cheetah440
I've been playing ok though a bit erratic. 37 (par 34) on the front nine at Bas Ridge last night. 43 (par 36) at Greenock tonight. Have actually been hitting my driver pretty well though tonight I got into trouble with it on the first hole. Tough to roll off the job site right onto the first tee with no warm up. When I return from AK I'll be ready to start the season for real. Here's another shot from when we got back to the clubhouse. Was crazy for about 10 mins. It's very frustrating because if I could get off the tee right now I could be really scoring well. I'm afraid that whatever I'm doing to hit good iron shots isn't working with the long metal, and when I fix that, my irons are going to go to ****. Always something. Have fun in AK. My problem with the driver is too steep a swing. I have much less trouble with the irons as a steeper swing can work well. I've been trying to work on a slower take away and a shallower swing plane with the driver. I've actually been hitting some solid drives. The problem right now is that I set up for a fade that I always seem to get but with the shallower swing my fade isn't as pronounced . Tonight I crushed a drive, straight as an arrow, but I was aiming left to account for wind and my fade. Ended up in a bad place. Very Bad place. As you know, I also have a very upright swing. 2 deg on the irons. My problem is going waaaaay past parallel. I stand over the driver and the last thing I want to do is swing. No way to play the game. I used to love the driver too. I have no problems at all on the range. urghhh.

Longer clubs require you to keep your hips from opening up to soon, You need to stay back on the shot, Thats how you end up blocking shots out to the right, Its all in the timing by taking a longer swing with the woods, Your belt buckle should be facing 12 o'clock at impact, If your hips get there before the clubhead gets there, It's going right. You can get away with it with shorter clubs if your quick but the longer clubs (Woods) you will get burned

I hit it better because that's my natural timing and as I'm shortening my swing (or trying to), I'm out of timing. Yet another thought for me on the tee Sat morning. That makes about 47. Now I know why Sergio used to regrip so many times.

Exactly, I have a longer swing as well, Its all about tempo, Its trying to maintain the same tempo with your irons as well as the woods, But most try to grip n rip there woods which creates tension in the forearms and wayward shots.. ski MRG
Played 18 at Skyline CC in Laneboro,Ma last night. Had a really shakey start but eventually settled down and played ok. Shot an 86, meh, could have been better if I hadn't been a spaz for the first 4 holes. Golf is fun but I'm so glad that at this time next week I'll be in the Talkeetnas. Looks like a fun track, hope to get out that way this year for a round. Had my first promising round on Sun, was -1 going into 15. I collapsed and finished with 77 but figured out a few things. I was just starting to look at boats.....
ski MRG
The coolest thing in that video is the baseball player saving the pretty young reporter from having a line drive hit her in the face. A manly move if ever there was one. at the 28 second mark.

Hit two of the longest drives I've had at Worthington thought I played a lackluster 40 (+5). Lipped out on 3 par putts of 8-10'. Skyline is a beautiful course. We should try to hit Waubeeka, it's really quite nice.

amarshall
I used to surf year round when I didn't have work responsibilities. 6/5/4 wetsuit, boots and gloves. The amount of days in the winter when you get surf on weekends are few and far between. Now that the days are longer, I can go after work. Water temp today is 50 degrees, I could get away with 3/2 boots and gloves. Now diving in the winter/early spring. That was unbearable. Did 2 dives in 39 degree water in a wetsuit and it was agony. HIPPYVALLEY
As if it's not enough to worry about natural dangers when hiking now there are neanderthals setting booby traps. I had been getting in my old rut of really crossing the line badly which has ruined my tee ball. Shot a 74 and regained a bit of confidence once again. We get that a lot up at the Ledge, usually early morning layer. Knowing where the green is isn't the problem, but knowing what side the pin is on is crucial up here. dryslot
Looks like an arsenal change on clubs is in order this year, After playing the last 6 yrs with the same irons, Did not care for the new Titleist's AP1 or 2's so it looks like its going to be a brand change, Going to take a hard look at the Ping's, Already made a driver change and went with the Taylormade Rocketbalz 10.5 degree after trying the Ping G20 and the K15 with me having such a low launch i need a driver with a higher launch and after testing a few in the simulator i decided on the Rocketbalz as apposed to the R11S, The R11S is designed for a lower launch which i certainly don't need
