tornadojay
Shortly after the quake struck, Mexico City Mayor Marcelo Ebard took to Twitter, saying "tenemos sismo," or "we have an earthquake." He later tweeted that he saw no visible damage while flying above the city in a helicopter.
wxmx
About 30 minutes ago, we were talking with a courier company in Mexico city...when the girl in the phone told us "I've to hang up, it's shaking!" Edit: Looking at the time of the event, it was probably a 5.1 replica a half an hour later.
ineedsnow
pretty close lol http://issuesoncall.blogspot.com/2012/02/march-22-2012-massive-earthquake-event.html
jbcmh81
I'm down here and felt this. Pretty intense for a short time, and lasted what seemed like forever. I did see damage to several buildings, particularly near Reforma. One building on Rio Rhin looked like it was trying to tear in two, as there's a large crack from the very top with tons of glass in the street. Another building futher down had part of the concrete facade fall into the street. Several buildings had plaster damage and some of the taller buildings had damage from swaying against each other. Pretty scary.

aslkahuna
That's really not that deep, as far as earthquakes go. About as deep as the average big CA earthquake. Steve

jbcmh81
We have been having a very shakey day around the world ... 7.0 preliminary I know Mexico City's getting tired of this. There's been at least 4 or 5 large quakes that've been felt there in less than a year, with tons of felt aftershocks from March 20th, including a 6.0 just a week ago. Now a completely different one in Michoacan.
