michsnowfreak
Tornado hit near Ann Arbor. Some awesome pics/video on the net, nothing strong or severe here in the immediate Detroit area (severe and tornadic stuff stayed west and south, then more severe cells/tornado well north towards Flint). But still its crazy to think its MID-MARCH and we had a summer-type day with humidity and incredible instability in the atmosphere. In all this madness, DTW tied the record high of 77F. I was informed by my mom it hailed for a HALF HOUR last night in Wyandotte. Not huge stones here (though many 1-2" diameter stones reported in SE MI) but apparently it got the mulch white, while where I was in Allen Park just to my north, it wasnt hailing at all. michsnowfreak
Decided to make this a rolling thread for any possible interesting pic opportunities that may arise as a result of the epic March torch going on currently. took this pic with my phone yesterday, so while not the best quality, you can see actual green grass on St Pattys Day. Greenup/vegetation looks like it will be 3-4 weeks early this year after being about 1, maybe 2 weeks late last year. Huge difference a year makes. michsnowfreak
3-18-12, our small magnolia tree, which always blooms before the bigger magnolias, is getting some flowers. 2 weeks earlier than Ive ever seen (beating 2010) and nearly 4 weeks early overall
