HoarfrostHubb
High of 65f. Awesome day today. 72.9F for a high coming off 34F this morning. Have not seen that too often
OKpowdah
Best way to approach "extremeness" is by standard deviation. So for instance we could take the high temperature for every March 18th since records began, find the standard deviation, and then calculate for 81F how many standard deviations above normal. Isn't there a website that has standardized anomalies for a bunch of variables for individual sites? Like in a tabular format?
powderfreak
Just an awesome evening out here in the village... I live right on the Stowe Rec Path and to be able to be outside in a t-shirt at 7pm as the sun is going down feels awesome. Walk out the backdoor and listen to the birds and the rush of water from the snow melt moving down through town. My max/min today was 77/31... for a 46F diurnal swing. Nearby MVL went 78/30F for a whopping 48F temperature change today. Wow.

Damage In Tolland
Lol...most of do in fact. And most of the people in SNE as well. This is why Morch is tougher here. Gorgeous today though and we may well hit 70 befor the bd blows through. If its that cool here in the late afternoon fear it for 24 hours. Most don't..Maybe 15-20% here do
powderfreak
Yep, LSC went from 33F up to 77F. Awesomeness. Nice... with Morrisville-Stowe Airport doing a 48F change from low to high, I was wondering if anyone did a full 50F diurnal swing today?

CoastalWx
Oh yeah I didn't mean to imply it was...just that's ridiculous for 3/22. Don't worry..he'll throw up a 90 when we are backdoored and 58 soon enough. But for now, that number looks good. It's all a dream by next weekend. snowman21
Isn't there a website that has standardized anomalies for a bunch of variables for individual sites? Like in a tabular format? For CON, which has records back to 1943, the average March 18th (not including today) high temp is 42.2 with a standard deviation of 10.41. If you want a larger sample size, you can use data from a week centered on the 18th, which brings the average to 43.0 and standard deviation of 9.32. One interesting thing about CON's record today is that it breaks the record of 67 set last March 18. Before last year, the previous record was 64 which had stood since 1945. ski MRG
The Euro continues to show the party will end. Thank god. We need a few months of typical New England Spring. Week after dismal week of cool temps and drizzle. To bad the warministas can't put days like this in a bottle and cork it for later use.
nzucker
My car thermo read 79F in a couple of places on the ride home (Bennington and Henniker I think) I saw 31F this morning around Jaffrey/Peterborough My weather station only made it up to 69.8F, but we're at pretty high elevation in the Monadnocks. AFN did make it down to 36F last night so I'm not surprised you saw some colder readings in that area. My parents were in town this weekend, and we chilled at my dad's cousin's house/property outside of Peterborough...beautiful day to sit outside as well as taking a long walk. Really nice views in that area.

I assure you, after working outside all Winter, it was not 70+ since last summer. You will pay. Brrrr,

I know there will be some payback to come, but days like today here (70, cloudless sky) are to be enjoyed while we have them. Until climo gives them to us as a norm.
