ctsnowstorm628
Wow. MOS busted by 10F today at 1V4. Some text products are printing out upper 70s on 3/22...I'm wondering how low they'll bust...mid 80s probable in some spots?
scoob40
Nice day here. Fell pretty far short of the forecasted high, but tipping 66.0 was nice., Regardless, the last patches of snow were polished off today (I think) and I got a lot of brush burned. So what's the deal with the coming weekend? I'm hearing mixed things....that can't be possible 6 days out, can it? The high was 70 at 1900' in Peru. You and MRG must be in the coldest spots in SNE. ctsnowstorm628
Insanity. 73F at ORH? Hit 77F imby. Crazy,,,just an awesome week upcoming....next week should be drastically different though. It'll still be above normal...probably in the upper 40s to low 50sin SNE after glancing at some guidance
Typhoon Tip
Days and days of 70's and 80's...KFS with another FTW Eastern Mass may get harshly cooled back around noon tomorrow. OKpowdah
Okay I have a question about extreme record breaking departures from norms. There are cold waves and heat waves that break records. Is there anyway of finding out what weather temperature event ever had the biggest departure from norms?. For instance Concord NH broke its record by 17F, that is very extreme. What weather temperature event in history was the most extreme from norms? Best way to approach "extremeness" is by standard deviation. So for instance we could take the high temperature for every March 18th since records began, find the standard deviation, and then calculate for 81F how many standard deviations above normal. Mr Torchey
Mad River Glen is closed for the season, I wonder if thats one of the early closings in recent history? Another KFS prediction validation.
nzucker
The 84 Actually isn't too bad. I think Bouchard is right on target here as he was with the 3/1 storm; BOS should really torch Thursday with more westerly winds immediately ahead of the front. It will definitely be cooler at Logan tomorrow and Tuesday than the rest of New England, but I think Thursday is a torch across the board for both the deep interior and the coastline. ctsnowstorm628
Mad River Glen is closed for the season, I wonder if thats one of the early closings in recent history? Another KFS prediction validation. To some extent, yes, to some extent, no because he said all NNE resorts would be closed by 3/21 or whatever lol. MRG only has natural snow, correct? It makes sense seeing as they had a shortened season on both ends due to lack of snow. Place with man made bases will be open for a couple more weeks I'd say. I think a lot of people here are giving him sh*t for going balls out, but he was right for going balls out 3 weeks in advance on record warmth. HoarfrostHubb
68.2 with sunshine on the Hampshire Country School campus...it's 72F at AFN. We're definitely not quite as warm as places further north. My car thermo read 79F in a couple of places on the ride home (Bennington and Henniker I think) I saw 31F this morning around Jaffrey/Peterborough

I was looking at web cams around new england ski resorts, its getting a little dicey, this week is going to be tough for folks outside places like Stowe which racked up tons of upslope, and Maine. Snow Bow
Can't believe how hot it was today, my weather station at home hit 83.4 at one point. Also can't ever remember getting chased inside by mosquitoes on or near March 18th before. Probably got bit about 5 times in the last ten minutes of yard work. Think CON broke the previous daily record of 67 by nearly 15 degrees today. Highest I saw was

Don't worry, I saw after I replied to him lol It's been a long St. Patricks Day weekend full of no drinking of course I was looking at web cams around new england ski resorts, its getting a little dicey, this week is going to be tough for folks outside places like Stowe which racked up tons of upslope, and Maine. You'd be surprised at how places up top are doing. I think Stowe, Jay, Sugarloaf, and like Bretton Woods will be open for another 2 weekends. Burke here in the NEK is closing the base lodge and only operating out of the mid lodge this week. They are going to re evaluate the snow deal next Friday for base operations, but i think they're toast. It definitely is getting dicey, but I think many will be open until April 1st, then really start start considering closing up.

Another KFS prediction validation. Yeah they are all over the place with a schedule... I think they closed around this point in 2010. That was a warm spring... Stowe only made it to the end of the first week of April. Very similar to this year I think... snowfall that season was also similar to this year, although the Mid-Atlantic got record snows, it was too suppressed for anything up this way. They opened quite late this year... but not as late as back in 2006 when they didn't open till January.

Yeah, we think we can make Easter (the 7th and 8th) at least... see how it goes though. Some of the man-made runs are pretty stout on Mansfield proper. I posted this in the ski thread... but although the hole opening up is just the beginning, that's the weakest part of this pitch near the bottom and its still 4-6 feet deep to the woods on the right. That hole would not be pleasant to slide into as its a nice 5-6 foot drop to the ground. Going left towards the chair, there's a ribbon down the middle of the trail where more snowmaking ended up thats more like 10 to as much as 15 feet deep. This is why Morch is tougher here. Gorgeous today though and we may well hit 70 befor the bd blows through. If its that cool here in the late afternoon fear it for 24 hours.
