nzucker
King Buffet? I was in downtown Fitchburg doing paperwork for a refi LOL...you guessed it! I've been to King Buffet a couple of times. It's not the greatest Chinese food ever, certainly not comparable to the dim sum places in Flushing, Queens that I like, or the old Cantonese places like Wo Hop in Manhattan, but it's decent food and dirt cheap. It was like 9 bucks for an all-you-can-eat lunch today. I have sort of a high standard for Chinese since Westchester has some decent places (esp Tarrytown), as does NYC obviously, but I can stoop to the level of King Buffet once in a while. The Indian place around the corner is higher quality food, however. What places do you like around here? My parents are actually staying at the Super 8 in Gardner... They better use disinfectant. My wife teaches 1/4 mile from there. Not really any good Chinese... just mediocre. Chopsticks in Leominster is probably the best one. For regular food in the Fitchburg/Gardner area. The Gardner Ale House is pretty good... Slattery's and the Bootlegger in FIT are ok. The Old Mill in Westminster is great Keene has an ok microbrewery place...

The Old Mill in Westminster is great Keene has an ok microbrewery place... King Buffet seems pretty clean...one of my co-workers has eaten there a bunch and enjoys it, so we tried it together and then I went alone. They do charge more for dinner so I think the lunch is a bit of a promotional thing. It is pretty popular. I've been to Slattery's...they have a nice selection of beers, but I thought the food was pretty mediocre. Funky Murphy's where we do the get-togethers has much better food. I don't enjoy hanging out in Fitchburg too much, and the school provides free meals, so I don't go out that much there. My favorite restaurant around here is Papagallo's in Keene, but it's a 35-minute drive which seems a bit much for a just decent meal, especially with the gas prices nowadays. I eat really well with my family when I'm around NYC (my dad loves dim sum and sushi, so we get those quite frequently, and I used to deliver for a Japanese place so I got great prices on sushi and entrees)... Snowlover76
Orient Point is across the Ocean behind my left shoulder. It's Porgy heaven out there. You also get a few decent Stripers if you go into Plum Gut, just be careful though, if you get swept off, pray you land on Montauk, or else you will be OTS

powderfreak
Well at least the heat is dry... only lost 1" at the stake in the last 24 hours. This stuff is going to last a lot longer as long as it stays dry. Classic inversion this morning. The amazing thing is the snow has frozen up at least here at 1,500ft with a temp in the low 40s. I've seen it happen before but I'm always amazed that with dry air and cold from below in the snowpack, the evaporational cooling allows the melting process to stop and ice up even in the 40s. 4,000ft...47F 1,500ft...41F 730ft...32F
