Geos
68° here this morning with full sun. Its been interesting watching the marine air trying to push off the warmer land air when it gets too close to the shore. Winds last night went south for about 2 hours and the temp went up to 70°, then the onshore flow pushed back with 50s. lol Been an onshore flow ever since. Low 55° this morning. wisconsinwx
Remember what it was like four years ago today? We were bracing for a blizzard that was strong enough to shut down General Mitchell Airport for a day.
Hoosier
The lake temps will be interesting to watch. It is very hard to get Lake Michigan above about 81 degrees.
SpartyOn
Next week ought to be very interesting. Those projected building heights in the plains look familiar to what the early stage of this current torch looked like.

It is very hard to get Lake Michigan above about 81 degrees. we should be off to a good start, the big key to extreme warming will be avoiding large cyclones...nothing knocks down temps faster than when the lakes gets real churned up. SpartyOn
And who doesnt enjoy unwinding after a hard day in a nice, soothing 46-degree bath In all honesty Tropicals wow moment is justified. Lake temps like that in March are remarkable. Last year this time we had ice on many lakes. This year the pleasure boaters are out. Night and day! Last year this time we had ice on many lakes. This year the pleasure boaters are out. Night and day! Oh theres no denying that. I estimate we are a full 5 weeks ahead of last year wrt foliage and grass and stuff. But saying Lake MI is bathwater is like saying there was NO winter this year. Using exaggeration isnt necessary, these things are impressive enough in their own right.
A-L-E-K
I missed the link the first time around but i had no idea lake temps were already getting into the upper 40s...unprecedented in big way.

MN Transplant
Madtown is 16F above normal for the month. Anyone know if any other city has a bigger departure? SpartyOn
Once again lets add 5-10 degrees and shave 12 hours off the fantasy cold snap on the GFS. If it even verifies, the shear transient nature and speed of that trough made me lol. Will be watching the potential for one heck of severe weather outbreak if such a solutions comes even close.
