michsnowfreak
66* and noon here with clear skies and no fog, should easily surpass the 71* forecast Detroit has a legitmate shot at breaking the majority of the record highs over the next week. Whats the record for most consecutive records? FRI 3/16 74 IN 1945 SAT 3/17 75 IN 1945 SUN 3/18 72 IN 1903 MON 3/19 76 IN 1921 TUE 3/20 73 IN 1918 WED 3/21 73 IN 1991 THU 3/22 81 IN 1938 ALL-TIME RECORD HIGH FOR MARCH: 82 SET ON 3/28/1945 I could be wrong, but I think its going to be close, no way will we break the record every day. I think the record for most consecutive record highs is 7 consecutive days (July 8-14, 1936) then 6 consecutive days (Aug 29-Sep 3, 1953).

Hoosier
With an average temp of 72 yesterday (LOW temp was 62!), LAF posted a departure of +32. March departure stands at +11.8 and only will go up in the next week. Will be interesting to see where we finish.

Hoosier
Assuming we don't drop below 58 by midnight, and there's no reason to think we will, LAF's record high min for the day will be broken by 7 degrees.

turtlehurricane
12z GFS shows a heck of a lot of rain next week. We are going to need it. No doubt we're gonna need it. This sunny and warm weather must be nuking water levels, the graph in this paper suggests a quarter inch per day from any given water body when you're in the 70s and 80s. http://docs.lib.noaa...060-01-0002.pdf

turtlehurricane
Cumulus field developing across the area. Starting to wonder if we'll see some thunderstorms, just need these thermals to break the cap and there's 1000-2000 J/kg of CAPE.
turtlehurricane
You can visualize the process of thermals trying to punch through the cap on the rooftop camera: http://quad.aos.wisc.edu/webcam_movies/last_west_60min_640x480.mov

SpartyOn
When we do level off and return to normal in April it's going to be a shock to the system! Normal highs in the mid/upper 50s feel real chilly compared to 75. Like I said, it won't be a real opening day for the Tigers unless it's in the low 40s with a brisk NE wind and wet flurries. Its just the way it goes around here.

A-L-E-K
looking out the window starting to see some signs of a convergence boundary to my northwest, slowly lifting north...not sure if the lake breeze will make much of a push inland and probably won't make it to ORD.
