Superstorm93
Kinda OT, but figured I'd post it here, WTF @ this. Kendra is the same broker that handles David, and a lot of other chasers. "You want to know how sick news medias are... just lost complete respect for CNN: From Kendra Reed regarding the tornado video shot from 100 yards away by Jon Stone and Amy Phelps - CNN's exact words..."We can't buy this, there isn't any building being ripped apart...death or destruction". This is the society we are growing up in, folks." This should be put up all over twitter and posted on CNN's page

andyhb
It may go just west of Valentine, hopefully.
SluggerWx
No MD or watch for N Nebraska from the SPC... What are they doing in Norman right now??
SmokeEater
Still major couplet, looks to have just missed Valentine to the west.
andyhb
No MD or watch for N Nebraska from the SPC... What are they doing in Norman right now?? I just had this exact thought, we have three discrete supercells in a very favorable environment for crying out loud.
Amped
Kind of a forecasting nightmare for North Platte. No watch issued. Only a couple small cells in the outbreak. North Platte didn't get a direct hit last year during much bigger outbreaks.
Superstorm93
Kinda surprised that there has been no mention of these cells by the SPC.

andyhb
There are houses where that couplet tracked west of Valentine along US 20.
andyhb
Except even if they do go linear, they are entering an area of 300-500+ m2/s2 effective SRH...

SmokeEater
Hearing reports the NBC station in North Platte did take structural damage. They are back on air for the time being.
Boogieman
KNOP-TV in North Platte has absolutely NO mention of severe weather on their web site... nothing at all. Makes me wonder after reading those tweets above.
SouthernNJ
These two supercells had the strongest, most consistent circulations seen all night. Similar to the East Michigan event in that the storms furthest north in the risk area had theta-e interaction and became powerful, despite not being given very high percentages. Superstorm93
Who's the FOD for the SPC? Dropping the ball for now. * AT 1017 PM CDT...NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE DOPPLER RADAR WAS TRACKING A CONFIRMED TORNADO 7 MILES SOUTHWEST OF LITTLEBURG...OR 25 MILES SOUTH OF MISSION. DOPPLER RADAR SHOWED THIS TORNADO MOVING NORTHEAST AT 55 MPH.
SmokeEater
KNOP-TV in North Platte has absolutely NO mention of severe weather on their web site... nothing at all. Makes me wonder after reading those tweets above. Those tweets came from one of the station's former mets, who lives 1/2 mile from where the tornado went through, and they just took a hit from a tornado, if it's true, I would be slow to update the website also. Indystorm
And I have to keep reminding myself that SPC risk outlooks are based on the expected number of svr wx events in a given geographical area, not the intensity of isolated cells that may go tornadic. Still, I am surprised there is no meso comment on the situation.

SouthernNJ
Rotation still decent, with possible very large hail in the former Valentine supercell. Moving to the very small Hidden Timber and Okreek areas.
Indystorm
Although I think eastern TX is the area of greatest concern for Monday as has been discussed, tonight's tornadoes make me wonder about how far north the threat will extend in the northern portion of the slight risk in MO and IA. And also as Andy referenced the QLCS line beginning to move into greater helicity might just produce spin ups overnight even with CINH considerations.
