MESOSCALE DISCUSSION 0277

NWS STORM PREDICTION CENTER NORMAN OK

0737 PM CDT SUN MAR 18 2012

AREAS AFFECTED...NWRN TX THROUGH ERN TX PANHANDLE INTO WRN OK

CONCERNING...TORNADO WATCH 80...

VALID 190037Z - 190130Z

THE SEVERE WEATHER THREAT FOR TORNADO WATCH 80 CONTINUES.

IT APPEARS THE GREATEST SEVERE THREAT WILL REMAIN IN WRN OK THROUGH

0130Z OR SO IN ASSOCIATION WITH TORNADIC SUPERCELL OVER GREER COUNTY

MOVING NEWD TOWARD SERN BECKHAM AND SWRN WA****A COUNTIES. A MORE

LIMITED THREAT EXISTS FARTHER SW INTO NWRN TX. WITH THE EXCEPTION OF

THE OK SUPERCELL...OVERALL SEVERE POTENTIAL APPEARS TO BE ON A

DECREASING TREND. HOWEVER...OTHER SEVERE STORM MAY DEVELOP OVER WRN

TX BETWEEN 03-06Z.

SUPERCELL OVER WRN OK AND REMAINS CAPABLE OF PRODUCING ISOLATED VERY

LARGE HAIL AND TORNADOES. ELSEWHERE STORMS OVER NWRN TX ARE

BEGINNING TO STRUGGLE AND BECOME LESS ORGANIZED. OTHER ACTIVITY IN

WRN TX SE OF LUBBOCK IS DEVELOPING IN RELATIVELY DRY AIR NEAR

RETREATING DRYLINE. MAIN THREAT WITH THESE STORMS APPEARS TO BE

LARGE HAIL AND DAMAGING WIND. DRYLINE WILL CONTINUE TO RETREAT

WWD...AND WITH ONSET OF NOCTURNAL COOLING CONVECTIVE INHIBITION IS

INCREASING. THIS PROCESS IN CONJUNCTION WITH WEAKENING DRYLINE

CIRCULATION AND LIMITED FORCING FOR DEEPER ASCENT SUGGEST MOST

STORMS WILL PROBABLY CONTINUE AN OVERALL WEAKENING TREND AND SEVERE

EVENTS WILL BECOME INCREASINGLY ISOLATED.

OTHER SEVERE STORMS MAY DEVELOP LATER THIS EVENING...AS THE DEEPER

FORCING ACCOMPANYING THE PACIFIC FRONT CURRENTLY OVER ERN NM

INTERCEPTS THE DRYLINE.
