No cold air ANYWHERE in North America. And no, it's not going to manufacture it's own cold.

Don't get too worked up...it probably wont happen but a cutoff pattern like that can certainly produce snow....you don't need arctic air all over the map to get April snow in a cutoff pattern. Ensembles do have something around that time frame but the signal is obviously a lot more damped out given its a 9 day prog.

CoastalWx
LOL what weenies. Even though I wouldn't lock it, models have hinted at a chance of something like the euro, for several days now. CoastalWx
That April 2nd or 3rd time frame has had some hints too on the ensmebles as well. In a sick way, even flakes flying at 36F would make me smile. Just a little reminder to the public that it just isn't time for this warmth quite yet. It seems like all guidance has some signals of low pressure near and just se of us at some point. Maybe not a closed low, but you can see that hang back trough on guidance, meaning some members have a low...just might not agree on the timing. Thanks. I think maybe I was thinking of the op Euro for Monday/Tuesday which I believe was much more aggressive than it's ENS at that time. powderfreak
It's all relative. It wasn't a great Winter here but it wasn't as bad as some make it out. While my max snow depth came in October I was able to maintain a snowpack for most of the Winter. I pursued my favorite Winter sports without much trouble. There were at least frequent light snowfalls which helped keep the Winter mood. This is where perception has a lot to do with it... snow on the ground. I know by stats this was an awful winter and Some are good at reminding us how miserable it was, but my perception is different from stats. I had solid snow cover of 4-24" depending on the date, from before Christmas to like 5 days ago. All of January and February and first half of March, the landscape was white with snow on the pines and snowbanks and whatnot. That makes it feel like winter. Also it was a dry winter and we didnt have any massive rain events...so we never melted the snow that we did have. So I'm with Pete in that it could have been worse...I could have seen bare ground in Jan or Feb but didn't. I do know that if I didn't have solid cover most of the winter my perception would be worse. I'd be like Nate because bare ground through the winter months is dark and demoralizing. ctsnowstorm628
But Kevin said full leaf out by 4/15? But seriously...a mid/late April snow could cause more problems this year then others with the possible early leaf out. Which is def possible...thats 5 days early LOL
CoastalWx
Leaf out by 4/15 would have to occur with temps continuing as they are. Some trees may have some leaves out by then...by I find it hard to believe a majority of trees will be leafed out by 4/15. Just don't see greater than 50% of trees leafed out. We usualy aren't fully leafed out here until after may 1st...but some years we can make pretty good progress by 4/20-25 or so where more than 50% are out. There is really no sign of anything yet at all here with the exception of those bushes with thorns on them that are getting that tinge of green look. I don't count tiny green buds as leaf out....I'm talking full out leaves. There will be trees with some leaves, but I don't think leaf out is possible..unless we just torch the first half of April

OKpowdah
The Euro has had a major snowstorm at day 7-10 how many times this winter? A lot. How many times have they verified? Never. The Euro is the new weenie model for snowstorms. It weenied out 10 times more than the GFS this winter.
