You'll be amazed at what he'll learn in 2 years. For students who are active with weather (on forums, forecasting, interning,etc) by the end of the second year they begin to really have a handle on forecasting techniques, pattern recognition, etc as they head into their 'junior core' of hardcore MET classes.
