I think the dry breeds dry theory is more for the summer. Dry soils mean low evapotranspiration and that leads to low dews. FYI, my 28 year normal high for today is 48 so it gives you an idea of how our temps are different. You're right in that it takes a lot more to come together now than in January but that doesn't mean that it hasn't snowed and there isn't anything in the up coming pattern that says we can't see some flakeage imho.
