Well people shouldn't expect April snow, just because a trough is moving in. However, people in the interior should obviously take a little more interest if we indeed start seeing 540 and 534 thicknesses dropping south. Usually, that means the temps aloft are very cold and sufficient for snow. Heck even coastal areas may be ok with 534 thicknesses. Even though full sunshine may push temps to 60...the same airmass can produce snow. It's all about wetbulbing, precip drag, and lift helping to cool the column. Melting also helps cool the column.

Alot will depend on where the trough axis is located...if we can get this ridging to suppress a bit and slide east this could allow for a deeper trough to be located further east...this would be great for severe wx lovers in the SE but it could also allow for a storm track to be a bit more favorable for some across New England.

Despite this massive warmth we are still seeing some very solid cold in the mid-levels...take a look here today for example...500mb temps between -15C and -20C giving us very steep lapse rates.

There is still cold air to be delivered, it's just a matter of getting the pattern in place for that to occur and before we get into summer I think it will occur...it may only benefit NNE and higher elevations but so be it.

Well I lived at the base of the mountains above exit 20 on the Thruway back then. And we got I think 45" in 97-98 and mid 30"s in 2001-02. This year my ex place there (still own a small house) only got 20 inches tops. 14" in met. winter.

I have a house over in Roxbury(off of NY 30) and I do most of my skiing over at Plattekill Mountain, and because it is a pretty small mountain, they do not have all that much snowmaking, and this winter they have suffered a lot, but that is also part of the business I guess.

Nope. Still can't decide and I've been reading some really bad reviews for all 3 schools I was considering online lol...but I know that's not the most reliable way to get info.

Every school will have some people who have really bad experiences. Heck...last year an ex student wanted to blow up my school!

What a pants tent. I don't think I'll ever duplicate the feeling of awe like I had in that storm.

Quite a bit of lightning occurring in my W and NW sky. Some decent reflectivities in these guys. It wouldn't surprise me if there's some small hail in a few spots. All it takes is a little trigger to release the instability and boom...

LOL, I just looked at radar. What month is this?

Yeah I know...which is why I'm mostly ignoring them...but I really can't decide.

Anyway its 57/52 at 10pm on 3/13....which would be about +14 if it were the high. ORH pulled a +22 today I think.

SUNY Oswego

Lyndon

Plymouth State

Chances are that if a person has a bad experience, they are most likely to write a review about than someone who had a good experience.

The only one that I know a lot about is SUNY Oswego, and they are your typical SUNY school(disorganized, but a decent education for your buck)

Lyndon State I have herd many bad reviews about.

I remember that 4/1/97 storm and there really wasn't very deep cold air to support that. Like -2/-3 850 etc... It just came together in the absolutely perfect way for the dynamics to deliver that crushing heavy wet snow to SNE.

When you got away from that into ENY it got much more elevational I had 8 inches of pure slop at 250 ft, but 37 inches at 2k feet.

Contrast that to the most incredible April storm IMO 4/6/82 where it was arctic air... 20F and +SN at noon at 250; asl in the HV!

Hubb Dave? Not like him to be offline for so long.

He was online like 20 minutes ago...maybe he's just busy and can't post.

All 3 of those are really well regarded schools.

If I could really afford to go back to Lyndon I would in a heart beat...I loved it...I loved all the professors I had for all my classes.

Yeah I like all 3.

Yeah...I met some great MET professors at Oswego though. And I think the met program is one of the best so I'm not to worried about that...more concerned about things to do since I'm not really one to party.

The only negatives I had about LSC is there is absolutely nothing to do there...nothing around the school (although the Freighthouse is AWESOME...or was) and it wasn't a huge party type school.

Exactly why I'm probably not going to choose Lyndon.
