Typhoon Tip
It's safe to say I nailed this warmth. Everyone laughed when I said 70's and 80's...guess what me FTFW dude, the title of this thread talks about absurdly warm March -
Tropopause_Fold
I'm a little concerned about that. All these buds will come out, and then maybe get damaged when we have a freeze. i was looking around today - some low-lying shrubby crap has sprouted little green leaves. 2-3 weeks early. Mr Torchey
I'm a little concerned about that. All these buds will come out, and then maybe get damaged when we have a freeze. Trees will be fine, despite what some have said, you would need MAJOR heat to bring them out more than a week or ten days ahead of schedule, sure the marsh maples and such might pop a little early. The damage will be to shrubs and the less hardy perennials and even some typed of grasses. You would have to think mother nature will unleash her system of checks and balances.......sure the potential for temps well into the 70s and 80s will grab the headlines, but its the continual +10 +15 +20 days that catch my eye. To be honest, its ****ing strange.

Mother Nature is in WTF mode right now. I walked out this morning to hear the sounds of birds that I normally hear a month from now. It's almost eery in a way. It just does not seem right. TalcottWx
Flowers blooming here. Buds on trees. Grass growing here and there. Gnats out in full force. Nothing I have ever seen before. Its like a plague of insects. Absolutely insane and unbearable to talk around in. 80F
wxmanmitch
Broke 70° F here in Lenox at 1,150' ASL. We were just short yesterday. Not only that, it feels decidedly more humid today. Incredible, it feels like late May, not mid March. Then again we all know what can happen at this time of year. 19 years ago today...
weatherMA
Scott, Will, and I would though. There are products, and reasons alone out there to suggest that it turns colder before truly hitting the warm season. We've been discussing... No, no I know that lol. I'm talking about the general public. People just don't have a concept of climo. I heard people talking today who thought this was normal. People my age (17) don't really have a good idea of how wintry March can be. All of the last 5 Marches have had at least one very warm spell. I mean its one thing to have a taste of 50s but know that winter is coming back. It's completely different to have it be in the mid 80s as it could be next week and then for it to snow a week or two later.

Typhoon Tip
i was looking around today - some low-lying shrubby crap has sprouted little green leaves. 2-3 weeks early. The foliage has been acting bizarre ever since that October snow last year. Some of the shrubbery up at Barre Falls recreational park were also sprouting leaves when the weather turned back mild prior to Thanks Giving - never saw that before. The Sugar Maples that took all that damage tried also to bud out in 2 weeks after that storm... I think something about the shock of that event ...I dunno, "fooled" some of the flora. Now, with the climate in chaos with this ...pretty much non-existent March. I have seen barren tree scapes having limited or no bud swellage as of April 10 before - granted things erupted pretty quick there after ... But here we are a month before that and Forcynthias in my back yard have acting like they just saw Ann Hathway perform a strip-tease.

weatherMA
I wonder why he didn't post the BOX one? No 80s and sun WEDNESDAY NIGHT-THURSDAY NIGHT...BACKDOOR COLD FRONT WILL WORK ACROSS THE REGION DURING THIS TIMEFRAME AS LARGE HIGH PRES BUILDS OUT OF THE MARITIMES. CUTOFF LOW PRES WILL CROSS MAINE TO NOVA SCOTIA...KEEPING MOST OF THE ENERGY AND LOW LEVEL MOISTURE WITH IT. DID KEEP SLIGHT CHANCE POPS GOING FOR CENTRAL AND EASTERN AREAS. MIGHT EVEN SEE PATCHY DRIZZLE AND FOG DEVELOP LATE WED NIGHT AND THU ALONG THE IMMEDIATE E COAST AS WINDS SHIFT TO N-NE...ALONG WITH COLDER AIR AND GUSTY WINDS ALONG THE E COAST MAINLY ON THURSDAY. DAYTIME HIGHS ON THURSDAY WILL ONLY BE IN THE 40S ALONG THE E COAST...RANGING TO THE MID 50S ACROSS THE CT VALLEY. WILL SEE MAINLY DRY CONDITIONS THU NIGHT BUT IT WILL BE CHILLY WITH LOWS IN THE 30S. CLOUDS WILL INCREASE AFTER MIDNIGHT FROM W-E WITH ANOTHER WEAK SYSTEM APPROACHING. FRIDAY-SATURDAY...ANOTHER WEAK SHORT WAVE DEVELOPS IN SHARPENING UPPER LEVEL RIDGE ACROSS THE GREAT LAKES. WEAK SURFACE LOW MAY DEVELOP ALONG FRONT NEAR OR JUST S OF THE REGION WHICH MAY CAUSE THIS TO LINGER FRIDAY NIGHT AND SATURDAY. THIS WILL BRING ANOTHER ROUND OF CLOUDS AND LIGHT PRECIP. NOT MUCH MOISTURE TO WORK WITH. HAVE FORECASTED ABOUT 0.1 TO 0.2 INCHES OF QPF THROUGH THIS PERIOD. EXPECT TEMPS MAINLY IN THE 50S FOR HIGHS BOTH DAYS...THOUGH A BIT MILDER ON SATURDAY. EXPECT LOW AND FRONT TO EXIT LATER SAT AS ANOTHER HIGH BUILDS OUT OF EASTERN CANADA. SUNDAY-MONDAY...RIDGE AT THE SURFACE AND ALOFT WILL BRING DRY CONDITIONS WITH SLOWLY MODERATING TEMPERATURES. MONDAY LOOKS TO BE A PLEASANT DAY AS WINDS SHIFT TO S-SW. HIGHS WILL BE MAINLY BE IN THE 60S...THOUGH HOLDING IN THE 50S ALONG THE S COAST WITH ONSHORE WINDS. Thats insane Phil, I usually split and transplant ornamental grasses in late march, well im rushing it right now because of all the new growth. I can see the daylillies being up, thats fairly normal, but not black eyed susans, echenacea, sedum, cat mint, coriopsis......its crazy. I dont dare split and transplant most perennials right now we will get frost and freezes, the plants will already by under stress from the transplant.....I see some of my fellow landscapers doing it right now and cringe, its way too early. Ten more days of this warmth, and people that love their gardens will be covering them up at the end of the month, florida style.
