For real? I was talking to my professor about temp forecasting with leaf out and he thinks by April 1 in SNE.

I don't know why people think that. There would have to be something very wrong with this planet if leaf out occurred up here on 4/1. If this weather continues, the earliest shrubs might start mid month with some trees following around that time or just after. A 2 week mild stretch won't do it, unless this persists.

It's just never good to have the warmth shoved due north into Husdon Bay. The resulting pattern here is usually cooling BDF or seabreezes. I think this will be the best day for quite some time. At least into part of next week anyways.

Edit: I more or less mean for warmth. It's still a mild pattern for sure.

Agreed... we dirty up the warm appeal with a few of these spurious cold smears...whether BDooring...seabreezes...etc...

But the 12z Euro really caved pretty heavily toward the GFS thinking for next week. As is the blend at 500mb would support a surface thermal ridging of some 20+ to 30F positive departures - yes that excessive - whether the 850mb partial thickness supports that or not ... probably not at this range.

We were talking from NJ to CT and he was serious lol By leaf out I don't think we are on the same page...not full leaves but green buds, my bad for no details on that.

Leaf out is not buds...its the leaves actually coming out of the buds.

It's just going to depend on how the heat dome sets up and how amplified is the trough out west. If the trough can prevent going negative, then it has a better shot of bringing the warm air in here for 3-4 days without high pressure muting things.

It really is refreshing to hear Kevin speak of warm (or cold for that matter) WHEN it is actually warm or cold hahaha.

Scott, I saw you poke Kevin's hornet nest with the little 90-95 barb, but ... heh, actually, that blended 500mb height evolution off the operational Euro and GFS, would probably in reality support a +15C in the 850mb. These types of thermal ridgings usually are muted a tick or two compared to reality at these kind of time ranges...

Don't worry, I am not killing the idea of one last hurrah of chill in the dream ranges... .not just yet anyway.
