Being from the same town I would agree, despite March 2010 having higher winds, the storm surge during Irene was number one in my lifetime (higher and more damaging then both the December 92 noreaster and Gloria)

(disclaimer, 92 had slightly higher tides over many cycles but the actual surge during Irene was more intense as it breached the boardwalk in multiple locations and came close to getting to the bay at Laurelton blvd something that hast happened since 1938 and Donna 1960)

Mine won't be "linked up" except where I plagarized the above list but here goes:

1) December 26-27, 2010 blizzard http://www.erh.noaa....rm12262010.html;

2) December 25-26, 2002 heavy rain to heavy snow, wind;

3) March 2010 wind storm http://www.erh.noaa....ns/03132010.txt & Tax Day Nor'Easter 2007, http://www.erh.noaa....ns/04162007.txt (tie)

4) April 15-16, 2007 Noreaster http://www.erh.noaa....ns/04162007.txt

5) February 25-26, 2010 "snowicane";

6) August 14, 2005 lightning event (no rain here, 3" in Central Park) tie with October 29, 2011 snowstorm

7) July 5, 6, 2010 record heat

8) July 2011 record heat http://www.erh.noaa....ns/07232011.txt

9) Late August-early September 2010 heat;

10) PD 2 February 2003 http://www.erh.noaa..../pns/021703.txt

I disagreed wtih Irene's inclusion and if I could include an entire month, I'd put in epic rains of October 2005 and mid-August to mid-September 2011. Yes, I cheated by puting in two "ties".

Wow, no Irene? Definitly number one on my list by far. Even without the storm surge.

oct 05 floods

I rate this as the outstanding event of the period in my area...rainfall of close to 20 inches over three days...including 9 inches in one day.

In my area, that event, 2003 flooding(i think) and the october snow event were the top 3.....actually the 07 flooding was worse than 05 i think around here....now im getting my dates confused.

1.) Irene (some of the most intense winds and the worst flooding that I've ever experienced)

2.) January 26-27, 2011 snowstorm (got ~16 inches, plus the only time I've experienced thundersnow and thundersleet)

3.) PDII (~ 20 inches)

4.) March 2010 nor'easter (bad flooding and some of the highest winds I've ever experienced)

5.) April 2007 nor'easter (more bad flooding)

6.) February 2006 snowstorm (15 inches)

7.) February 9-10, 2010 snowstorm (13.5 inches)

8.) October 29, 2011 snowstorm (4.25 inches plus lots of tree damage)

9.) February 2, 2011 ice storm (0.25" of ice; most I've ever experienced)

10.) July 2011 heat wave
