Has anyone seen a PNS out of FFC about the damage in Paulding County, GA? They put one out for Haralson County, GA rather quickly, but haven't been able to find one for Paulding(which actually sustained more damage). Would the weekend be hampering the survey crew from surveying the area or lack of multiple survey crews?

Even a routine survey can take the better part of a day, so it may just be a case of wrapping it up tomorrow. LMK is going back out again tomorrow to finish up surveys as well.

That's what I thought, but wanted to get someone else's opinion. I figured they are stretched a bit thin because of the widespread outbreak. Thanks.

I'm pretty amazed West Liberty "only" saw 140 mph winds. That couplet had potential to be much, much worse.

I'm pretty amazed West Liberty "only" saw 140 mph winds. That couplet had potential to be much, much worse.

From what I saw, the West Liberty damage was borderline EF2-3. In fact, of the four *official* fatalities from Morgan County, only one was from West Liberty proper. The damage outside of West Liberty, and especially in Menifee County, was much worse, as well as the damage near Salyersville (which IMO looked almost EF4ish in areas).

I agree that Saylersville looked worse off, and indeed JKL has rated that high end EF3 with max winds of 160 mph.

PUBLIC INFORMATION STATEMENT

NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE LOUISVILLE KY

1030 PM EST Sat Mar 03 2012

...Preliminary survey results from Southern Indiana and Trimble

County in Kentucky...

Narrative: These are the preliminary results of multiple storm

survey teams that investigated the tornado damage caused over

southern Indiana and into Trimble county in Kentucky. Complicating

the assessment was the fact that two separate supercell

thunderstorms tracked over the area, each producing a tornado along

their path. Between the towns of New Pekin and Henryville, the

storms followed essentially the same path, separated by

approximately 10 minutes. The first storm was the more powerful of

the two, producing the EF-4 damage to homes and a large

junior-senior high school in Henryville. Further EF-4 damage was

found near Chelsea in Jefferson county Indiana. Near Pekin in

Indiana EF-3 damage was found. In Trimble county south of Milton two

tornados, one rated EF-2 and another EF-3 caused damage.

Again, these findings are preliminary and are complicated by the

long distance involved. More details will follow, including path

length, width, and timing information as well as even EF-rating,

after additional storm survey teams are dispatched on Sunday and as

storm damage pictures are more thoroughly assessed.
