Made it to 62.6F in the Monadnocks, went from full snow cover when I arrived at school at 8:30 to just a few piles when I went back to my apartment a few minutes ago. Incredibly windy here, about to go for a run and enjoy the warmth. There were actually a few flies in my classroom today, unreal for March 8th at 1200' in NH. Disgusting.

Not cool man. My girlfriend's a special ed teacher and I've gotten to teach weather to a lot of her students, they're people.

I also have a family member with autism and another with down's. Thanks.

dude, it wasn't meant to be offensive like that...and you know that. and foolish of you to assume you are the only one who has experience working with mentally disabled adults or children or are the only one with someone in your family of similar ilk. you are not alone in that department.

it was written with the same level of connotation that every other piece of insensitive crap is written with on this board. let's not try and make this place out to be something its not.

Phil, a lot of people are sensitive to that word being used that way... I won't allow my students to use it in school. I was not offended when you posted that despite having 2 cousins who are m.r. I post many dumb things but I try not to offend

The wind is howling here

yeah i recognize that. i know a lot of people who cringe at the word.

but there was obviously no ill-intent. that's not my style.

The main downside to this from you horticultural perspective might be that devastation could befall the fruit orchards in April if they all go into blossom too early and then some "normal" 20's occur one April morning. Places like the Hudson Valley apple orchards could be toast for 2012.

That's what happened to a number of central Maine orchards when hard freezes hit 5/11-13/2010 after a very mild March and April. In addition, ash, most oak, and some other tree species had to start leaf growth from scratch after the new shoots got toasted. It's the only time, anywhere I've recorded wx, when the temp got lower in May than in April.

Man today you guys are like the playground bullies who beat up on someone cause he's different. He's just excited that it's a gorgeous day outside...I spent the whole day outside enjoying the sun and embracing the warmth, maybe if you all did too you wouldn't be mad at him for talking about how warm it is. I don't get it. He is just optimistic, is that frowned upon?

Agree. Maybe he goes overboard but so does Pete with snow, Kevin with losing power, Sam with frisbee, etc.

Kevin jokes about it but I saw several good ole' boys in pick-ups, with sleeveless shirts and arms out the window today. I thought I was safe until late April from that.

I had a tie on and I have well cropped hair..but my windows were all down, sunroof open and my arm was hanging out the window..I actually enjoyed today. I have always said if March can;t be winter anymore...let's just go right to summer and MORCH

46 currently in the super-cooled glen though just at the top of the hill it was 55. The west side of the Berks got scorched today. Snow hangs on here tenaciously and maybe a refresher overnight and again tomorrow night. Definitely a putrid LR outlook but the great thing about the weather is it is changeable. We'll get whiplashed back into Winter at some point even if it's fleeting. Snowfall for the year is not done. Good day to ride the snowmachine or to ski.
