KFIT at 58F already...

...but BOX has snow mentioned for me tonight...lol

Tonight: Rain showers before 5am, then a slight chance of rain and snow showers. Patchy fog between 9pm and 10pm. Low around 34. Breezy, with a south wind 15 to 24 mph becoming west. Winds could gust as high as 39 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100%. Little or no snow accumulation expected

I would laugh if I got 0.1"

It could end as a bit of snow.

I'm bumping this post in May when we are 48 and drizzle.

You're years of living by the ocean in spring have tainted you.

We haven't had one of those brutal drizzly springs in yrs..as the climate as changed..it seems so have the magnitude of those.

Maybe we'll get a day or 2 like that this spring..but the pattern sure doesn't support much more than that

It's funny that you think that Bennington,Vt temp represents SVT. Bennington is a lonely torch island because it's practically the Hudson Valley. You and Blizz need to take a cold shower together. I can't believe I have to endure 7-8 months of you guys blathering on about warm temps. Blech.

what's your reading right now? You have to be torching (relatively speaking)

Dude, seriously?

It doesn't matter how nice it is...we always go through a stretch of crappy wx. How easily people forget. June last year was one of them. I never said the whole Spring...just that we'll have a stretch of crappy wx.

If you want to be glass-half-empty, then so be it. The rest of us will be enjoying our late April weather.

It's not half empty, I'm enjoying it. However, I think every Met agrees with me. It's foolish to think this wx is here to stay from here on out I do think it will probably be a mild Spring...but lets not kid ourselves into thinking this wx is going to be like this straight through June.

It's pretty much been like this since early Nov, outside of a cold day or two here or there. We'll probably see the same going forward. A day or two stretch of crappy wx but generally mild and nice.

Nothing worse than the city in HHH weather. I have the misfortune of having to work down there maybe twice a month during the summer. I'm forced to ride the meat locker #2 line down to Chambers Street when I work at the archives and you almost pass out in the stations + at least once or twice a summer you get a train with broken a/c and people standing there with beads of sweat literally dripping off their cheeks.

This x a million. Had an almost summer like run this AM in the city with temps already near 60 along the East River. Sky had that summer morning/hazy look to it.

Kev June 2009 was pretty bad as well. All areas and I'm taking into account the interior. The last 2-3 yrs have been nice overall, but we had some nasty strecthes.

I remember that one...days and days of 55-60 degrees with overcast and .10-.25 of rain for days on end--looked like Ireland around here..

june and july 2009 were horrendous.

july 09 at BDL started with 25 days at or below normal.

and june 09 didn't have a single double digit + departure

edit: and 11" of rain in july.

We had a couple days of sea breeze last year that put us down in the 50s while it was in the 70s in interior NJ. But nothing was that bad.

Last year was nice until that stretch in June. I don't know why people are thinking permanent drizzle..I never said that. But it's a kick in the balls when you guys are throwing the frisbee around central park, while we are 50 and drizzle after being 75-80 for 2 days...that's what sucks. I do think the Spring overall will probably end up milder than normal.

Luckily, we've had some nice Sprigs as of late. Part of that has to do with Nina Springs which I think tend to be milder. Even though we had a -NAO in 2010...the whole ne and Quebec was void of snowpack which really helped boost temps when we had NW flow. However, I've lived here long enough to know that some Nordic fisherman can fart in the Davis Straits and send high pressure nosing into New England. I hope it doesn't happen in April or May. We will inevitably have a stretch of lousy wx in all areas. The question is how long does the crappy stretch last. I see some questioning May as a time for cutoffs and overall regime shift.

Bennington is a weird location. They get all sorts of ugly downslope affects off the Greens and maybe off the Taconics. Really a thankless place ..always torch the fastest on any southerly winds, etc. Grandma Moses schoolhouse/studio is a cool and nice monument.
