Ginx snewx
It was cutely predictable to log on this afternoon and see the obvious posts from the usual suspects on each side of the spectrum this afternoon. The Euro modified the Saturday cold shot a bit this afternoon, but did introduce the expected possibility of a brief backdoor here and there. Overall, this will likely be a well above normal stretch for the next few weeks and denying it won't make it any cooler. I suspect that in these EC ens means of 50s/60s everyday that we probably average somewhere around 60F over the interior with a sneaky 40F backdoor and a couple days of 70s scattered in there to counter each other. Only 9 more months of the daily temperature talk, isn't that exciting.

CapturedNature
A 50 degree day in March is nothing unusual. Funny how some are losing their minds and acting as if this is something extraordinary.Meh. More Snow will fall. I agree...way too early to have seen our last flakes. Looking over my records over the past 26 seasons, it's never failed to snow after this date and that includes 1998 when places it the upper 80s and even 90 in a couple of places and 2002 when we had a heat wave and there was several inches of snow in late May. CapturedNature
So the northern lights should be visible even down in CT tonight? This map says no (I think) but it's worth looking. I'm glad the skies might be cooperative tonight. I think there was some earlier this year and we had clouds.
dendrite
Only 9 more months of the daily temperature talk, isn't that exciting. This LR pattern would be more interesting in July...there'd be 90s/100s in the nation's breadbasket and NW flow, ring-of-fire storms for us along the heat dome. Alas, it's March.I'd take cold/snow over this any day, but if I can't have that 50s & 60s are fine with me over useless 45F temps.

powderfreak
It's 34 even atop MWN. I was up on the 2-3 mile Mansfield ridge all Fay at 4000+ feet and it had to be at least low 40s up there. It was raining in the woods the snow on the trees was melting so fast LOL. Mostly just settling the rest of the snowpack though. Had to watch out for evergreens shedding microwave sized chunks of snow and rime though.

I'm sure it will snow again to some extent for many of us again this season, but climo will be starting to work against us by the time we get out of this pattern. Yeah, GC will probably see some upslope or there will be a nuisance coating. If we can get the cold to spill into the east by early April maybe we can get one last hurrah, but the odds aren't high. Even in 2010 inferno I had a little under 2" during the day in mid April so it'd be foolish to guarantee no more snow for the interior. Barring a freak major event this winter is having its back broken over the upcoming week...whatever how much of a back it even had to begin with. Mr Torchey
One of my favorite days of the year, the grand opening of the outside shower, it felt insane. Mother Nature will pay us back for this wonderful March torch, that is a certainty, alas by the time she does climo will be much warmer.
Ginx snewx
Yeah it's just awful here. Bars, civilization, culture, restaurants etc. What a fail. Weather wise it blows, hot muggy, stinky city smog for days on end, one of the worse cities in all of New England summer weather wise. Bridgeport and Shotford. ORH_wxman
Nice Will snow on the roofs of houses still, imagine that. They better close all ski areas Ski areas should be fine for the time being...its a lot more damaging to get a 55F rainstorm than a 55F day with dewpoints in the mid 20s...the prolonged lack of snow (except some brief upslope in the usual spots Friday) and gradual melting will probably hurt them for late season skiing in April though unless we get a nice cutoff in here at the end of March/early April. Yesterday there were 30 snowmachines there when I went by.lol I hate how the Applebee's type chains have fake pictures on the wall to give the illusion that the establishment actually has a history. Liston's is the real deal right down to the bullet holes in the walls.
