Skivt2
We go on a skiing vacation every March for our wedding anniversary. The day is 3/16 so we always take the week with that day. Its been 21 years. It used to be a winter vacation with large quantities of powder snow. I'll never forget skiing Bolton Valley in the St Patricks day storm. We also caught the blizzard of 1993 on our second anniversary. Now it's a spring skiing vacation and has been for a number of years. It sure seems like something has changed. ORH_wxman
The EC ensembles began showing the beginning of ridging in the Bering Straight at the end of their run, so that might signal a pattern flip near the end of the month.

ORH_wxman
I'm down with that. Who knows if its going to happen...but its the first time on the EC ensmebles it shows the beginnings of change with the vortex in the WPO/EPO region...it would probably take a good week after that (shows up 3/21) to actually manifest the changes for the CONUS but it would probably unload some cold if it happened...but long ways out and pure speculation at this point. But given the amount of cold bottled up north and not really modifying, I'm worried if the pattern does change for any period of time, we could have a nasty stretch. CoastalWx
I'm down with that. April is a classic crappy month. Sometimes it seems like March is a warmer month. April can drizzle every day if May can turn out somewhat nice.

The thing is though..southern Canada is pretty mild. A lot of that snow will melt I think if this month is anything like the ensembles show. I'm more worried if the ridging shows up in the Davis Straits. That argues for more backdoor and drizzle. NW polar airmasses would probably modify, unless it's a sub 510 thickness airmass type deal. Until then, looks mild so far. April will probably be April...periods of warmth and drizzle which is the worst.
CoastalWx
I'm pretty sure one of the months will give...Apri or May. I hear some talk about May being the "cooler" month. March will torch no doubt, but the other months may be susceptible to changes as ENSO begins to shuffle.

CapturedNature
80 degrees on March 15th lol..MORCH!!! Too bad it's not later in the month or we could have a repeat of 1998. We hit 79° on the 30th and BDL hit 90° on the 31st. I think CEF just missed it at 89° but I remember it was a big deal because we had never hit 90 in March. I was living in an attic apartment at the time and working third shift trying to sleep without a/c and I thought it was ridiculous that I had to turn it on in March.
