What's up with all the convective snow squalls popping up all over the place.

Yeah pretty impressive at times.

Up at the mountain its been snowing all day, but down here in town its been light flurries except for one solid squall that moved through and put down an inch or so in about 15 minutes. We were right at 31-32F so the snow plastered to everything. One of those things where one side of the trees are all white top-to-bottom and nothing on the other side.

This is from around 775ft in Stowe village... looked dreary this morning after yesterday afternoon's warmth and sun, but back to winter.

Gotta love how squalls roll off the mountains and then just plaster everything in 15 minutes then roll back out. Its like flipping a switch back to winter after all the snow fell off the trees yesterday afternoon.

Before the torch, a little snow for the north country.

Nice! BTV is going ballz to the wallz tonight and tomorrow morning...lol.

Tonight: Snow showers likely. Cloudy, with a low around 3. Wind chill values as low as -15. Northwest wind between 11 and 16 mph. Chance of precipitation is 70%. New snow accumulation of 3 to 5 inches possible.

Monday: Snow showers likely, mainly before 10am. Cloudy, with a high near 14. Wind chill values as low as -17. Northwest wind between 14 and 17 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New snow accumulation of 2 to 4 inches possible.

Nice shots, Blizz... enjoy it. That's enough snow on the ground to get the wintery appeal... however even upper 40s and low 50s here by Wed/Thurs. I gotta admit, yesterday afternoon's sunshine and 45F felt real nice. Though so did today's snow squalls. Such a tough call this time of year, haha.

Wow, does d5 on look like a total torch...holy crap. Haven't looked at anything since I left for the NESC Friday, but damn is it warm. Most of my 12"+ is gone by d10.

I think you'll be surprised at how long that snow sticks around. I know I always am each spring. Sure south facing and hill tops will go bare quickly, but the hollows and nooks and crannies of the terrain can hold the stuff for a surprisingly long time east of the Spine.

There's 2.5-3 inches left from the 5+ we had last week. It's icepack now..as we had quite a bit of zr from the storm end of week and then on Friday nite we had some more..so it will take some torching sun to fully melt it..but by Thurs it'll be gone, Amazing though what wet snow and then ice will due to snowpack hanging around vs that powder nonsense that vaporizes

Yeah I know, but there are bare spots on 91 up to St. J here in the valley. Though, here at LSC, we still have 12" at the stake with maybe 7-8" in the sun. Thats including our fresh 2.5" too. 3/8 looks warm even up this way PF...even BTV is going 48F here at 900ft and 44F at 3200ft and I think thats conservative 5 days out.

Yeah I love upslope but I'll take a cake bomb anyday... that stuff just lasts forever. Same with a little bit of rain that freezes in the snowpack and locks it up tight.

The snow we got Weds/Thurs was dense stuff. Then the bit we got yesterday, plus the rain, will freeze up nicely.Alas, twill be gone soon

Yeah... the warmth though completely depends on dew points for snow melt. If its 50/17 then surprisingly little damage gets done. If its 50/40 then you are hemorrhaging snow. I haven't looked too closely but nights look relatively chilly for how warm the days get, so it should be a somewhat dry heat. If the afternoons are seeing 30% RH (or even less in the mountain valleys), then the snow will stick around for a bit... especially if nights are getting well down below freezing.

A point most snowmelter wishers often forget.
