March 2012........Happy Sping

AMOUT..Euro backed way off on the cold shot next weekend and it's a 2 day milddown in a month of torch. Days 8-10 right back to the torch again. If it can't snow this month..let's have it be 70

It's snowed already this month and will snow more. Those of us that live where March is a Winter month have no interest in warm weather. You should move to Virginia. I also see you haven't taken me up on the bet about March snows.

Kevin has had a horrific last 10 days for forecasting...he should probably hang 'em up for the season and come back next year fresh.

Strongly agree. I think the torch will win out in the end, it's won out since 11/1 so why buck the trend..sure we'll have a cold day or two but in the end...TORCH

I'm glad he's moved from forecasting winter cold to forecasting torches.

This thread will shortly become unreadable. Pete will talk about crusty snow under his evergreens, while Joe is posting sunshine emoticons while a 42F south wind howls through BDR. Wake me up in November.

I think that is very good advice. The period of transition from Winter to Spring so often provides atmospheric dynamite it can be an exciting time in NE. I remember reading accounts of the blizzerd of 1888. In the days prior to the event it seems people were strolling in Central Park enjoying 50's and 60's . They, like Kevin today, were gravely mistaken in thinking that Winter was over. Some people just do not learn from history. Hopefully next year the storm systems will be a bit simpler to forecast so Kevin will be able to get his feet back under him. I still think it would be fun to let Kevin take over for Ryan as an on air met to see how long he'd last before the villagers turned up outside the studio with torches and pitchforks. Depending on the time of year I'd say the over/under would be about 10 days.

It must be tough to be a met living in a place like Dorchester where evidently no weather of note ever occurs. Oh, wait, you did have a few mangled flakes with this last system. My bad.

Couple of slightly below normal days to get through Mon/Tues before looking at 60s mid week. Nice. Crocuses are blooming here. Signs of Spring everywhere with bulbs/plants coming up. Amazing to think that just 50mi NW of here has several inches of snow on the ground.

Not even....like 15 miles from here. But that will be gone later in the week. I have all my stuff coming up too.

That's crazy. We won't see anything growing here for a long time. Here's a pic for Scooter from yesterday. The snow under my evergreens is not crusty.

Enjoy what weather/conditions you got. I know I would if I were out there. There may be a rogue event down this way but any "sustained" winter is long since gone for us here in SE MA. Daytime climo highs here are already in the mid 40s. Time to look forward to Spring projects outdoors.

I meant that it's so close to this area. Literally a different world from Medford to Woburn. Pretty close by.

Yeah, when I left Wrentham Friday, there was ~3-4" OTG and the trees were covered in snow. By the time you hit the Norton/Easton line on I-495 there was nothing. Sounds like the same gradient there as well. I think the areas around my work lost most if not all of there snow yesterday.

The Euro was a nice several inch anafrontal snowfall here on Friday. No exciting storm anymore without the full phase, but a decent wave formed. May goal is 4 1/2 inches to hit 50 for the season. Pretty poor, but it's something.

It would be nice if the nrn and srn streams didn't remain so separate. I keep hoping the overnight models have something interesting when I get up. Euro op looked interesting for NNE.

You know it. Going to ski at the B'east a little later. Sunday is family ski day for us. I'll enjoy every bit of snow until the bitter end. Once it is really over I'll switch to golf and mountain biking immediately.

Despite the look of the LR I'm sure more snow will fall here. I think all of the recent snow we've gotten was originally progged to be rain but all treneded favorably as we approached the event. Perhaps the same will happen as we close in on next weekend. Again, as long as it snows somewhere from here to the Canadian border I'm happy.

I'm .25" from 80". Not very good but this year it will be a victory. I'm hoping for a major storm to bookend the winter and put me up over the century mark.

Some are saying the long range progs hinting at a below normal April. :)

Except for the surprise you guys had the other night the coating on March 1 was it. The vast majority of that fell on Feb 29. I will bet you a six pack that we do not see more than 2 inches of snow in Morch at any of the 4 climo siites in Sne. Deal?
