donsutherland1
February 2012 was the warmest February on record in New York City. The mean monthly temperature was 40.9°F (4.9°C). Records go back to 1869. The lowest temperature during the month was 20°F (-6.7°C). Only once before, in 1927, had the temperature failed to drop below 20°F (-6.7°C). There were 0 days on which the temperature stayed below 32°F (0.0°C). In response to the warmth, flowers were noted in and around the New York City area. The following collage shows a variety of flowers that were found during February at the New York Botanical Garden (Bronx, New York). The lettering at the top of the collage is the lettering that appears above the entrance to the New York Botanical Garden. The photos are as follows: Top Left: Japanese Apricot; Middle Left: Lenten-Rose/Hellebore; Bottom Left: Crocuses; Top Right: Asiatic Dogwood; Middle Right: Korean Rhododendron; Bottom Right: Daffodils
