Mrs.J
Got up to 85 here today around 4. Was out with my girls on the playground in the neighborhood and we all went through our water. In the direct sun it was not comfortable.

Eduardo
Upon further inspection, they do have little green tips coming out. DCA: 81, IAD and BWI: 80 81.0 here. Impressive that we can hit the low 80s in March w/o any wind at all. Nice in the shade, but if you are doing something active in the sun, it feels like summer. Anyone know if the rate at which trees bloom correlates with sun angle/duration. Or is it tied only to temperature?
Billabong
Anyone? My guess would be some clouds following along the ESE low level flow...
snownut
spent the day working out at my cabin in WV, earliest I have ever seen any oaks bud out, I would say 3 to 4 weeks earlier than the previous 6 springs that i have had the property. Also had my first 80.0 temp of the year yesterday.
Kevin Druff
Anyone know if the rate at which trees bloom correlates with sun angle/duration. Or is it tied only to temperature? It's actually largely sun and then combined with temperatures. If this warmth were first apparent in mid-April, they'd shoot out. It takes longer for them to emerge this early in the season. mdhokie
So is this crazy spinning mass of rain finally going to make it to our area this weekend? Figures it would come just in time for the weekend. Surprised noone is really talking about it.

Elevation plays a role too as does the type of tree. I think a Bradford Pear would bloom in January if the temps were warm.
Amped
Anybody want to venture a guess as to what might cause this kind of signal in temperature and humidity overnight? Interesting part is that there was no wind and lots of fog this morning. I live on the lee side of the Catoctin ridge. I'm a little stumped. http://www.wundergro...p?ID=KMDFREDE27 Yes I saw that. Driving over Braddock Heights it was about 5 seconds from 1/4mi visibility to clear. Very thin foggy/inversion layer.
mappy
I'm in Sykesville for the weekend, a nice little storm with some thunder rolled through about 615 this morning.

Disc
SPC has me in in a slight risk here today and not too far from the 30% hail and wind probabilities. Some clearing and blue sky now after heavy rain earlier this morning and a mild 61.3 degrees on the home weather station.

mattie g
Just kind of drizzly, with the occasional shower. Pretty dreary, but at least it hasn't been a washout.
Disc
Sun has been out for a few hours now and has made it into the 70's. Nice supercell going on starting to hook just to the south of me here and the SPC has mentioned it in their newest MD. http://www.spc.noaa.gov/products/md/md0347.html

Disc
Have a place on Smith Mountain Lake that just got hit by that tornadic supercell. May have to drive down and check on things tomorrow. Looks like Roanoke is luckily missing out on this massive hail, but it's been thundering and raining for and hour or two here in Roanoke.
Ellinwood
Handfull of TOR warnings in southern VA... some nice hail cores with the cells as well. Some decent radar signatures on there, but the SRM hasn't been the tightest.
