Parsley
Spent 5 days visiting Chincoteague. What a beautiful area. Even in the offseason, there was plenty to enjoy. Saw a few wild ponies on the Refuge, but primarily lots of birds/ducks/geese/cranes. The beach sure looked like it took a beating from Irene. They had some heavy equipment (trucks/bulldozers,etc.) out while we were there rebuilding the barrier island/dunes moving around tons of sand. I absolutely loved the lighthouse. You could just "feel" all the history standing next to it. It's amazing to think what something that old has withstood. I'd definetely like to get down there again and spend more time (several days vs. 1 day) at the Chincoteague National Wildlife Refuge.

Parsley
Nice pic's Brian. Spent some summer weekends in the area back in the 80's. Nice location. Thanks. I bet a not a whole lot has changed since the 80s, it seems like it has kept that old beachy town feel to it (reminds me of a place like Montauk, NY) I also loved the fact it was only roughly 200 miles from SE PA. To get that far south in under 4 hours is pretty good.
ThePhotoGuy
Nice Job! Are people allowed to go in the lighthouse?
Parsley
Nice Job! Are people allowed to go in the lighthouse? Thanks. Yes, for a small fee (a few dollars) you can get in the lighthouse. Since it was the offseason (and a Monday), it was closed for me. The Assateague Ligthouse is open April - November, 9am-3pm (7 days a week in June-September. Friday-Sunday in other months). Adults $5 Children $
