Wow. TVS went right over my house. Saw a nice barometric pressure drop as the storm approached and a sharp downward spike as the TVS passed overhead.

Takes on a whole new level of scary when you're huddled in the closet under the stairs with your wife and 8-month old.

Another warned cell approaching now. Back to the closet. Be safe out there.

Edit: Thankfully it's tracking more north of me now.

Still quite cool in the Triad with heavy fog setting in. Can't imagine these storms can punch through and stay severe, but I'm certainly no expert. Radar starting to light up east of the mountains, so I'll leave it to you experts to predict. But it would be great if the rest of us could get your feedback sooner than later. I still have a couple of hours to prepare if needed.

Never had so many feeds going at once. What an incredible event!

Edit - 55 in greenville, sc with plenty of cell activity north of there into the foothills of NC. These storms seem to be fairing well and are tornado warned (or have been). So I suppose a prudent weenie in the Triad should prepare for the worst and hope for the best.

Wedge seems to be holding strong in CLT. I have my doubts on these storms making it much past the mountains. The ones that were heading into the northern foothills have already dissipated.

Robert just sent a twitter update...we gotta watch that wedge over the next 1-2 hours...some concern the southern edge could be overcome as the front itself slams in.

The wedge is losing its grip though. Rock Hill is up at its high temp for today--it was in the high 50's around 5--and cool. Now, its in the upper 60's with dewpoints in the 60's as well.

I have noticed in the past hour the fog which was pretty thick has lifted and the winds have picked up dramatically. Also noticed a bit more moisture in the air. Right now I don't have any current obs. Will have to wait and see what happens. *off topic* is there any apps for the NOAA weather radio for Droid? We are currently at our church hosting Room in the Inn. We have 12 guests staying with us so they are off the streets for the night and kinda want to stay informed through the overnight hours.

There is an app called Scanner Radio. It will allow you to hear weather, police, fire, etc. I've got it and it's pretty good.

The wedge is there, but still there's low topped cells that could turn severe, esp. since the SR helicity is lined up with the front from north central Ga to southern West VA, and what should happen is the LI's that are highest around northern half of GA and ne Alabama will roll around the southern edge of the wedge in Upstate SC, ne GA and probably southern NC, accentuating or highlighting the severe there. That wedge is always tricky and the hardest part to forecast is the southern boundary, and right along the escarpment, where low topped cells defy the odds a lot of times, then fizzle out further east. But RUC does have the enhanced lift (from the wedge convergence) beefing up tonight later one.
