Dunkman
I was thinking the same thing Frosty. Very, very cool drizzle here in Triad. Not sure how we'll get severe / TOR out of that. Well we already had one severe storm roll through but yeah you'd think with the weather outside (we are busting fantastically on the forecast high) we wouldn't experience too much. WNCwx
Has there been an increase in the chance for severe weather for North Carolina? We are under a tornado watch until 10pm and I understand that there will be another round of storms in the wee hours of the morning when the cold front comes through. I also note this is the anniversary of The Great Derecho event last year.

WilkesboroDude
I'm hoping the cool air here will greatly diminish the severe threat for my area N.Foothills NC? currently 50 degrees. Everybody stay safe!!! I am leaning toward a hail threat for our area. I was hoping for a few breaks of sunshine today, but that will not be happening now. 48 here with a 60% of snow Sunday night into Monday morning. However, some areas are getting tornado warnings with temps just about 10 degrees warmer.

Snowless in Carrollton
Lookout, you love to contradict yourself dont you ? Um, wrong. It goes from roughly cedartown/atlanta to gainesville to near clayton. Last time I checked, that's the northwest half If you go to this link, and click on counties at the bottom, you will see the moderate risk goes from southern carrell county, to the fulton/dekalb county border, to extreme hall county, to the rabun/towns county border. That IS northwest Ga...unless you have some completely different definition of it I'm just as annoyed with your senseless bickering as you are with mine, but if you are going to make an argument at least don't contradict yourself. First you say northwest Georgia is Cedartown to Atlanta northward, then in the 2nd paragraph you say Southern Carroll County to Fulton northward is Northwest Georgia. Just to remind you, Cedartown is in Polk County. Anyway, this is a pointless argument when there is serious weather occurring.
metalicwx366
...COASTAL SERN U.S. INTO N FL... SHOWERS AND STORMS WILL LIKELY BE ONGOING AT THE START OF THE PERIOD NEAR AND AHEAD OF THE ADVANCING COLD FRONT...WITH LIMITED DAMAGING WIND/ISOLATED TORNADO POTENTIAL POSSIBLY ACCOMPANYING THE STRONGER STORMS. WHILE COOLER AIR ALOFT WILL REMAIN N OF THIS AREA...DAYTIME HEATING OF THE MOIST BOUNDARY LAYER ACROSS THE COASTAL CAROLINAS AND PARTICULARLY SWWD INTO SRN GA/NRN FL WILL THERMODYNAMICALLY SUPPORT SOME INCREASE IN COVERAGE AND INTENSITY OF ONGOING CONVECTION. WITH STRONG/QUASI-UNIDIRECTIONAL SWLY FLOW THROUGH A DEEP LAYER...SHEAR WILL SUPPORT ORGANIZED/SEVERE STORMS -- WITH LIKELY STORM MODE BEING A MIX OF CELLS AND SMALL/BOWING LINES. WHILE LOW-LEVEL VEERING WILL REMAIN LIMITED DUE TO VEERED/SSWLY BOUNDARY LAYER FLOW...SPEED SHEAR APPEARS SUFFICIENT FOR AN ISOLATED TORNADO THREAT...ALONG WITH A LIKELY MORE WIDESPREAD THREAT FOR DAMAGING WINDS AND POSSIBLY MARGINAL HAIL. We are under a slight risk for tomorrow. Also we may see up to 3 inches of rain tomorrow. Nothing compared to the ongoing event.

Chattownsnow
yeah it looks to get rough in nashville soon. Can the spam, and lucky Lookout hatched the 72hr ban, as I usually just go with 168... Regarding the push and emphasis main side, I don't like it as the regional aspect is diminished, however, this one has worked out great, honestly. For the sake of transparency, there was some discussion amongst staff for a consolidation of info for this outbreak. Several reports from the board as a whole during the last event a couple days ago asking to have a main thread, and stuff posted in the regionals not pertaining to that region. What we do not want is the same information being posted in multiple places at once. With such a large event encompassing at least a couple regions, decision was made to take it to the main wx thread. Can't say that I agree, but based on the response, it was likely correct. kvegas-wx
Did that cell that just went through nashville drop a tornado in or near the city itself? Any reports? I was on the phone with an associate in Nashville and talking her through the storm (no power). She had severe hail but no tornado. She's right near downtown. This matches what I heard on the local station in Nashville (wall cloud, hail, no confirmed touchdown). East of Nashville looks to be a different story.
