I didn't even notice until now that we have flakes coming down. Get to record a trace before 6:30. Surpsied to see that.

Early dismissal for Hampshire regional schools. Snowed a bit here overnight and now we have mood snow. I expect the "dry" snow will be light and fluffy Mike. Hoping for soft landings. Love to go big on low consequence days. Have fun guys, I'll check in when I can. Snow snow snow. Go Go Go!!!!!!

Overnight model trends a bit discouraging at first look here in CT besides far northern sections.

Think most of us get 1-3 with a band of 3-5 north of Hartford. There's a small chance the burst around 12z Thursday delivers on the northern border but I'm not counting on it.

Things look much better across the border in Mass.

Good thing I am not far from the Mass border, bad that I am at the southern end of town and 500ft..

The thing to watch for places like Kevin and BDL is whether the mid level cold can remain by 6z when the next round of forcing moves through. If you you could tack on an additional few inches. If not it may be a burst of +PL or +RA. At this point I don't think it's snow but models are trending colder.

The towns near the border are a tough forecast...like Union for me...they might go to light sleet when the precip lightens after the initial thump...but then models do show the critical thicknesses sagging back south for the overnight round between 06z and 12z as the mid-level center starts closing off over SE MA and probably aided by some dynamical cooling with the next round of good VVs...it could def be an additional 2-5" vs a sleetfest there.

Channel 22 out of Springfield is going 5-8" outside of the valley, 3-6 within.

Channel 40 is going 6-10+ outside and the same 3-6 in the lower valley.

They have kevin on the cusp of the 1-3/3-6. Of course, since he's not part of their demographic, I'm sure what happens there is just "noise" on their map (similar to how they depict NYS and southern ORH).

Yeah I'm glad to battlezone is only for a couple towns in my area. We're toast down here. The SREFs show a decent thump of snow around 12z Thursday at BDL.

I do think that even for Union there is some drying around 500/550mb that effectively shuts off snow growth for a period of time so everyone goes to pingers. Whether we can start snowing again is to be determined but I'd feel pretty good about cashing in again if I lived just over the border in Mass.
