CooL
looking back at the maps on ewall, the pattern was extremely slow. There was massive massive blocking up north so im sure that the "blizzard" talk had some merit. Pretty sick how that much blocking can cutoff a piece of the PV like that
SnoSki14
I would like to see maps of those forecast amounts/models when they showed a monster storm over us.

Isotherm
Glad I wasn't really into weather enough to feel the burn with this one.
Isotherm
The forecasts for epic blizzard, 1-3 ft up the east coast were definitely called for given the H5 set-up: http://www.meteo.psu.edu/~gadomski/NARR/2001/us0306.php Monster piece of PV diving SE, several contours closed off at H5, barreling to the Mid atlantic coast, causing the surface storm to explode, then become almost stationary near the benchmark. Thus C/N New England obviously got raked with biblical snows.
Isotherm
H5 pattern for March 6th, 2001. Massive west based block w/ core of pos height anomaly near Hudson's Bay, with the bomb of neg heights directly underneath. Somewhat similar to Boxing Day blizzard in terms of the blocking pattern. Isotherm
Dec 26 2010 for comparison. Main difference is the north pacific; 2010 much more neg PNA.
LongBeachSurfFreak
Glad I wasn't really into weather enough to feel the burn with this one.
