MJO812
21z SREF looks the same as previous runs. NYCSuburbs
21z SREF looks the same as previous runs. Still well south. http://mag.ncep.noaa...el=&imageSize=M The precip shield is noticeably trending north and a little stronger though, and has a slightly less suppressed look to it. This run still looks like it would support snow north of the city, but I think that the storm ends up at the very least a little further north and/or warmer than what the SREF is showing. MJO812
RSM has light precip for NYC and more precip as you head southward. Nothing for SNE.
cold&cloudy
I agree with that. A late October/November snowfall is nice because were heading into winter anyway but an April snowfall sucks because we just want warm, sunny weather because it's spring. Rollercoaster this week, near 70 today to 40s/50 Friday and Saturday to possibly 80 early next week and then back into the low to mid 50s for mid to late week. We? Speak for yourself. I always enjoy a late season snowfall.

NYCSuburbs
That was predictable... the 0z NAM is noticeably warmer and further north. It's not in the time frame when it affects NYC yet but this run looks like it will easily produce rain for most.

This winter probably found almost every possible scenario to keep the snow away from NYC... February 24 was a classic, NYC/NE NJ were in cold sector, snow accumulated literally 10 miles to my north and I barely had a trace of sleet with an otherwise very cold rain. Snowlover76
Well the same could be said for "severe wx season" in the northeast. Correct. Severe wx season in the northeast is really 3 or 4 storms that get warned. It's a joke when compared to the south of the Midwest.
winterwx21
A snow weenie would want snow all year round. LOL, no. There are a lot of people that are big snow weenies, but wouldn't want snow it the summer. Cold/snow in the summer would be a disaster because it would ruin crops. No sane person would want to see snow in July. Late season snow (April) and early season snow (October) is fun. But snow during the heart of the growing season (May through September) would be a terrible thing.

But if it were to snow in the summer, the board would be going absolutely crazy, and we'd all love the historical significance of it. It would be one of the greatest meteorological phenomena of all-time. Practically, I don't want crops destroyed, but I can't just turn down the opportunity for snow, regardless of the time of year. Cfa
Wow I thought everyone was on the same page as far as actually wanting Spring weather. I don't like to see snow beyond mid February or earlier than mid December. I couldn't imagine seeing snow in April, that little coating I got in October was only on the ground for a matter of hours, what's the point. No thanks. pazzo83
Fixed. Trust me, your idiosyncratic perspective here is NOT shared by an overwhelming majority. Snow in April is fleeting and a waste. Some of you people need to get out more.

Some of you people need to get out more. 44F and drizzle is a common phenomenon in April...it happens every year. Some people prefer snow over that. Some people prefer snow over 75F and sunny. I'm one of them. 75F and sunny is nice, but we have 150 days of climo to get that weather...snow is much rarer. Lecturing people on their interest in snow is more of a waste than snow in April. Different strokes for different folks.

FYI, Neruda is a Nobel Prize winner and one of the most famous poets of the 20th Century. Not quite obscure, unless you aren't sure of that word's meaning.
