icebreaker5221
Thanks for posting! For those of you who don't know, these data are equivalent to the F6 climate reports seen on NWS pages, but official and going back in many cases to the 1800s. Great for looking at the day-by-day for your local city's snowiest/wettest/hottest month ever to really see how it came about.
KokomoWX
This goes along with that... Weather Underground We've just launched "Record Extremes," an awesome new product that compiles extreme weather records from NOAA with data from our weather historian, Chris Burt. Give it a whirl here! Record Extremes : Weather Underground www.wunderground.com http://www.wundergro...te/extremes.asp
isohume
They should change their name to the American Climatic Data Center - ACDC. I'm sure the Angus bros wont mind.
ohleary
Is this a little misleading or is ALL NCDC historic data now free?
michsnowfreak
Is this a little misleading or is ALL NCDC historic data now free? All data that used to need to be purchased is free..talking this link below. Not sure about everything on the whole site (didnt browse further) but imo its HUGE that the f6-type data for all the major stations that had been confined to NWS offices and paysites for so long is now free for all users. For instance, DTX has one of the best climate sections of any NWS on their website, I can find the monthly snowfall, precip, and mean temp from the beginning of record, but still that doesnt go into detail about daily stuff. But now all the daily data is free...i can see the percent of possible sunshine on Jan 6, 1918 if I want to lol. http://www7.ncdc.noaa.gov/IPS/
isohume
I think they should make NCDC pay back all the fees they've been charging all these years. I never understood the fee system. It was a double tax.
