NEOH
I think you should be pretty good the next few hours if I remember your location right. Shift north has occurred and should level out for a while where it presently is at or drift northwards perhaps a bit but should be slower now. You should have a decent few hour window. One thing to remember is that the trough axis at the upper levels is over us or centered slight to our west. That in itself is not helpful when looking for a NW flow. Also, HP is centered off to our SW which is already nosing in ridging just to our south, while a weak surface trough is just north of lake erie, which is helping keep the winds to our north slight north of west. Luckily we had that shortwave move through last night which helped us for a time get the snow to shift south. I'm right along 322. Snow has picked back up again but it looks to be setting-up just north of here. I'll save my complaining until after the event ends. You can see the trough north of the lake pressing down creating the shoreline convergence.

OhioBlizzard
Band is developing back west looks like it could sit in the northern areas for a while.I think its got another 3-4 hours in the location it currently is iin. Of course there will be some slight wobbling going on but it should stay 5-10 miles on either side of 322 for the next few hours. Might even get a bit stronger and approach "mega" band criteria as convergence becomes slightly better in a bit. I'm right along 322. Yea no compaining please, thats only for the snow starved northern secondary belt folks (aka me lol) that missed out overnight by literally a couple miles lol. At least I manage 1.8" total so far, I guess better than nothing. Nice to see some members getting decent snow.Convergence might actually increase a bit here shortly and get that band more intense. Its borderline mega band material right now, that slight boost in convergence might put it over the top.
OHweather
Nice. Im a bit surprised how quick things are shifting. Its occurring about an hour or 2 before I thought. Luckily we had that shortwave move through last night which helped us for a time get the snow to shift south. Yeah, ridging kind of pushed the band back north but it appears pretty stable now. There's going to be a weird double max to the snow totals...one along the eastern Lakeshore into northern Geauga County and another one near and just south of 422 stretching WNW back to the west side lakeshore with less in the middle. I see 9" fell in Garfield heights last night and 7.5" in Solon...wow.

NEOH
Nice little battle going on between ridging to the SW and the trough across the lake. Look like the band to the N with the Lake MI connection might steal the show from the shoreline band. Hopefully we can get another push south from the trough to enhance the shoreline band. That band over you still has a good hour to maybe a bit more before it should start to get bumped NE. Once it starts it should be a fairly quick progression up the lakeshore. By 6-7pm, only the areas within say 5 miles of the coast should be seeing banding and by 8 or 9 it should be a done story for all of NE ohio. A quick hitter but really a fun event to track and watch and it also put down some nice snow totals. Just a guess but someone in the northern primary in the area from chesterland to chardon goes slightly over a foot in addition to probably Pierpont. I'm at my office in Chagrin so I'm not sure what has fallen at home. Called my wife but getting an accurate estimate isn't possible. She said it looks like 6" or so. Looking at the radar it appears that 322 has been on the Southern fringe of the band... which looks to be locked in place right now. I bet the Kirtland out through Chardon area will be the jackpot area once again if this band continues to stay in place. It has been an interesting event to follow. A lot of factors at play with this one.

The one I always use to get a good idea of the convergence is the rap 10m streamlines set on the ohio level. Not sure if that is what you are referring to ?? , but it does a pretty darn good job. Sometimes it seems to initialize a bit off, thats why I cross check it with the wind section under "current maps" and make any adjustments needed based off of how it initialized. Yea, it was a bit of a surprise how much the southern primary got. I thought theyd have a decent window of 6 hours or so, but didn;t think the banding would be as intense as it was. I though 3-6" would be plenty there, I never expected 7,9 and even 11 inches! Of course I missed out by a few miles and ended up with just under 2 at my place lol. NEOH
Just took a look at CLE's spotter reports. There was a report of 5.5 in Westlake... yet 2" at the airport. Locking in the Chardon - Thompson - Pierpont area for a foot + seems a like a good bet with most events. The part that really got me was how the southwest side of Cleveland did so good. Westlake got nearly half a foot! I wonder how that poster south of BUF is doing...looks like he's been in and out of heavy snow since yesterday morning. Western NY always finds a way to cash in it seems. Took a quick glance at buffalos page. Erie county didnt report much unless you were in the far southern part of the county. I'd guess maybe 2-4 in his locale, but i could be wrong, didn't really look into it with much detail. The southern tier got at least 18" in spots though. Tell me about it! Although we probably made up some ground this morning. Imagine if we had the flow last night/today for an extended period of time like last weeks event. If only... At least we have a decent base for the upcoming clipper parade. I've got a feeling this is going to be our last extended period of snowcover for the winter. I too am worried that this may be our last period of solid winter weather that lasts for more than a week. Long range is pretty up in the air right now after middle of next week. With our luck, it will be western glcs the rest of the winter .
Speedskater
Just my luck! Appears my area was destroyed by a very narrow band. I90 looks a mess on the west side. Probably 8" It must have been a very narrow band! At Lakewood Park (just 2 miles west) on Thursday we got a good 1/4 inch but it quickly disappeared (the daytime high was 26F). Today (Friday) we only got about 2 inches (eyeballed).

I'm not sure if the band will stall or spread the wealth tonight through at least tomorrow night. Either way should be a moderate to heavy band into WNY for at least 24 hours. With the progressive pattern I'd lean towards some wavering of the band with perhaps a brief stall into BUF proper (or perhaps slightly north) late this evening into tomorrow morning before the first clipper goes by and shifts it back south in your direction for a time. You should see 4-8"...although potential is there for over a foot if the band doesn't move around too much I agree.

Hopefully we can make that up tonight though. 45 inches on the year so far here. While the Buffalo airport is not at 30 yet! I've seen quite a few times where events like this surprise the NWS and produce more than forecast. To be honest...Outside of the 2001 event. That band is a machine right now...Dews at Dunkirk are several degrees higher than BUF...ERI...Jamestown and Ashtabula. Dunkirk also sitting in the mid 20's under the band so the lift under the band is probably pushing the snow growth zone into the cloud layer. Winds south of the band are strait up southwest...winds at BUF slightly north of due west...so this band is a machine. The band looks like it is still shifting north...surface pressures still rising to the south of the band so I think it will orient itself right over BUF or perhaps just north by later tonight...we'll see how long it sits...plenty of ambient moisture...full fetch of the lake and 850mb temps remaining sub -16C tomorrow, so the band should keep going. I think it may waffle back south tomorrow afternoon as the first shortwave goes by...then shift back north tomorrow (Saturday) night ahead of the next clipper...before going back south on Sunday. If it stalls for several hours each time over the north side of BUF that area could get hammered...although the south towns where you are will be in and out...I still like 4-8" for you well south of BUF but am thinking 12-18" could be fairly doable for BUF. Hoping to end up with 8-10" here by the time all is said and done late tomorrow night which I think is doable given what we already have gotten the past 3 hours. Even if this band doesnt stall I think with the full fetch of the lake and some frictional convergence someone around or just north of BUF is gonna pick up 18". Yeah, will be interesting to see what happens in BUF and just north as the band should stabilize there until the little shortwave rotates through later today. It's certainly coming down heavier off the east end of the lake then it was in the Cleveland metro Friday morning, which is fairly typical.
