Boogieman
MKE television mets suffer epic fail after epic fail. Understand this was all over the place system, but Goddard(sp?) is consistently the worst met on T.V. Every time I look to the boards or to MKE/Sullivan NWS for storm info--the WHOLE GROUP of TV mets in metro MKE call for nothing. Its amazing really...sometimes frustrating. Oh, having a broadcasting background, I can perfectly understand. I worked master control at a TV station before, and there's nothing quite as funny as watching the "Death Storm" hype overtake the newsroom, especially when their 10" predictions winds up with a total of 3" in reality! A lowly master control tech doesn't hold much clout compared to mister AMS Chief Meteorologist even if we are right, but there's always "I told you so" after the fact! hawkeye_wx
It's amazing how fast a few inches of snow vanishes from the pavement this time of year even with a cloudy sky and temp in the upper 20s. My street is already pretty clean despite no plowing, and I was just driving through downtown and I could barely tell we just got a good snow. Organizing Low
WOWowow woke up this morning and saw the delay in snow, and took off for ottawa around 8am. got in around 11am and the snow was just starting....very mild around 32F and saw the bust in toronto, thought this is going to be nothing around an hour ago headed out to costco for a minute, saw a band organzinign on radar before i left.....just drove back....insane snow rates out there, must be 3-4+ inches /hr, don't think i've ever seen it snow this hard in ottawa except in march 93 and december 07 storms. total and complete whiteout, just dumping..couldnt see more than 25 feet driving all the way back, felt like I was in a lake effect zone. was not expecting this with the lack of cold air around....just shocked! i have NEVER seen all my north facing windows here at my parents home snowed over completely....i cant see anything. michsnowfreak
Has the snow melted up to the Wayne County line yet? I'd imagine nothing is left in Monroe and Toledo by now. Out of our 2.2" snow we now just have a T of snowcover LOL. Just patches in areas where the grass didnt soak it all up. Our temps sat at 34-37F all morning and early afternoon until temps just now started dropping, along with dewpoints as well. Even DTW just a few miles to my west didnt get higher than 34F. All because of where the L tracked. Kudos to the RUC for being the only model to catch onto it, though you cant blame forecasters for not buying it because being too far NW is definitely a RUC bias. I have seen 25.2 inches of snow this season with just 20 days with 1"+ snowcover.

Trent
I think it's subjective. If you are making a forecast for a specific place and give a 3-6" range and 3" falls at that place, then the forecast verified. If you are making a 3-6" range forecast for a region and the region sees 1-3" then I personally would not consider that verified.

Yeah, I agree with you there, but calling it a complete gust when some totals were in his forecast range is not true. I think it's subjective. If you are making a forecast for a specific place and give a 3-6" range and 3" falls at that place, then the forecast verified. If you are making a 3-6" range forecast for a region and the region sees 1-3" then I personally would not consider that verified. Yes. Although that was probably one of the better snowfall forecasts for the area, nobody really saw this much of a NW shift in the last day of forecasting. I posted the RUC at 1 or 2PM yesterday which actually verified better than the other hi-res models at that time, showing very little snowfall for DTW/Ann Arbor etc. On another note, I ended up with 6 snowflakes this afternoon, while TOL recorded 1" today. Not sure how they did it, but I had rain much of the day here.

Trent
It has to be. Maybe Stebo can shed some light on those extra 2 inches? Yeah. I even find the snowfall of 1.7" before midnight last night to be highly suspect. There's no way they got 1.7" from 0.09" liquid. One of those numbers is obviously wrong, but will it ever get fixed? There wasn't 20:1 ratios. I get annoyed when the data for the big climate sites gets muddled.
