Hey everyone. It's that time of the year again...SKYWARN talks. The new list of talks for this year can be found HERE (http://www.erh.noaa....rn/classes.html).

I will be helping out with the Basics 1 course on March 26 in Carroll County, and Master of Disaster is working the Montgomery County event. Hope to see some of you folks in the coming months!

Is this going to be offered in the Baltimore City/County area, or just near DC suburbs? THis sounds like something I would be interested in.

That would be a question for the NWS in Sterling. You can contact them via email at: [email protected]

Joe...my youngest (he's 10) is absolutely enthralled with weather in general and severe weather in particular. If I signed up for this class, could I bring him along to listen and learn too? Or is he old enough I can register him on his own to attend with me?

Thanks.

The minimum age is 13 to be a registered spotter so he is too young. But he certainly can come and watch the presentation.

Too bad LaConte (MoD) has to be at the MoCo one. Probably be fun and educational if he wasn't. Probably just another session of him trying to "own" the Skywarn program in MoCo. I feel sorry for the NWS staff that have to put up him year after year.

Just stating facts, and making sure folks are aware of the situation for Montgomery County. Frankly I tend to recommend folks take a class OUTSIDE Montgomery County or at least one where Master of Disaster is NOT connected to it. We all know how he posts right here on the forum, is this really the person you want having influence at a training session like Skywarn...which has enough problems in this region as it is.
