Apparently it is valid, but good lord, at least half those counties aren't seeing or going to see anything by the time it expires. The warning indicates the severe thunderstorms are from the top centre of the warning to the bottom centre of the warning. This is really interesting, but indeed they may have it up because of the explosive development ongoing and approaching. I wonder if they are going to reissue in a minute. I think LWX (Sterling) railed in an AFD about the lack of a watch last year...and LWX ended up being proven right as they had to issue a short-fused watch as severe wx popped in their backyard. I had to do a triple take to make sure it wasn't bogus. Unbelievable. 90% of the area wasn't even seeing rain at the time of issuance.... This is a bit of a shock to me that they would disregard the memo from the Warning Decision Training Branch. On another note, Nashville with another quick trigger-pull for a TOR. SouthernNJ Posted February 23, 2012 Share Posted February 23, 2012 Why no warning then? A rotating wall cloud is not that uncommon for storms in their (Hunstville) area. The radar data, both velocity and reflectivity, likely does not support the immediate danger of a tornado, and the warning forecaster is probably going to wait for more concrete evidence before pulling the trigger on a TOR here. Had some lightning from a storm from the north that wasn't even in the huge warning box. I don't think I've ever seen them do that before, especially for just one cell and that one weakened.
