magpiemaniac
As expected, my two inches of snow are quickly disappearing. Still plenty on north-facing roofs and slopes though. Old Man Winter 2011-12 might have gotten the best of us this season, but at least we kept him from pitching a shutout. I can now face spring with a small amount of satisfaction. Tullioz
Here is a link that shows how quickly the snow is melting across NC. I wasn't sure how to download it, so this is time sensitive. http://www.ssd.noaa..../flash-vis.html
POWERSTROKE
Here is a link that shows how quickly the snow is melting across NC. I wasn't sure how to download it, so this is time sensitive. http://www.ssd.noaa..../flash-vis.html let it melt. I have done made my money and we can go back to our regular work tomorrow. If it was Dec-early Feb i would love to see it stay a while but this time of year let it go.
WilkesboroDude
Water pouring off the roofs here. Shaded spots still has 1-3inches. Good bit of shade over my yard tho! Roads are just slush on my back road. Main roads are a go.

Tullioz
I have too much free time. lol Here is a map I created last night for my own weather records. I have been making similar maps like this after each storm in NC for over 25 years. When I first started making them I had to do it by hand. Computers have made it much easier. WilkesboroDude
Raysweather had the following comments and satellite picture of the snow posted this morning: Here's the morning visible satellite photograph showing the extent of the snow cover over our region. Check out how far south the snow got into the central NC Piedmont! Meanwhile, the big winners were the folks in KY/WV/VA with amounts ranging from 4-8 inches, and even some localized amounts around 10 inches. I also added NWS totals sent out by Brad Pancovich as well as NWS KRNK snow totals map. Even in a terrible winter...it eventually snowed come Feb. 19th. Who needs December?
