Looks like the radar is starting to fill in a little bit back towards the west, around the Hickory area. Are you guys down that way seeing sn, ip or rn?

Weatherheels, where in K-ville are you? I'm right down the road from East Forsyth High. It's snowing really good here now! My kids are gearing up and running outside.

Im about 3 miles N of Kville, right near the guilford county line near stokesdale.

Right now we've got very light snow falling, still mixing with ip and rn.

Nothing here but stupid drizzle. I should have known better to believe the hype of the models. Of course, they go north with the storm on the day of the event. If anyone ever gets the snow forecast right in this area it's just a lucky guess. You can't depend on the models, and no one knows what will happen until it happens. There are just too many factors here that make it so complicated to forecast snow.

You weren't supposed to get anything until the evening. Be patient, grasshopper!

Looks like some sleet is picking up again here. I expect a changeover to snow soon.

Not sure if it is the case that far South, but the reds and yellows are likely the melting layer and looks more ominous than it is. In the next hour or two you will start to see this whole area of redeveloping cells start to move East at a faster pace. From now until 8pm is the best opportunity for the Foothills and the Western Piedmont to pick up any accumulations. What you have seen is what you will get from here on out. Bands of heavier precipitation followed by lulls. Where the bands consolidate like up in Southern Virginia is where you will find the accumulating snow.

Yep it's the case, easier to see when viewing the Greenville radar.

Thanks for extending it one hour.

Accumulating snow has already been reported even to my east into Yadkin County. Spotters reporting 1inch there. Probably higher amounts somewhere in Wilkes and Surry already. When the radar shows nothing, its just a light snow. Any green shading and the intensity is pretty moderate to heavy snow. I fully expect 2-4+ inches around Wilkes.

I wasn't far from there earlier. Had to run to Tractor Supply. the snow is letting up again. I wonder if that's how it will be this entire event....just bursts of snow.
