This storm is going to be like watching a train wreck evolve over about 48 hours.

One year in the 80s I literally sat on the Beach at Misquamicut RI and watched it snow hard on Block Island, think they ended up with 8 inches while I sat in the sun 6 miles north. sharp cutoff. great week POS and OTS

Like 2/6/10 all over again? The worst, most agonizing part of that one was watching wave after wave of heavy snow get eaten up by dry air, and then seeing a huge band set up literally 10 miles south of me. Maybe this one can set up further south so it's not quite as agonizing. I think though that our area still has a shot, although it diminishes big time if the 0z and 12z suites tomorrow don't show a big turnaround. If they still show these sheared out solutions I'll toss the towel.

It's really our destiny this winter. I cannot even begin to explain it. Even when the apparent pattern isn't horrific there are things that conspire/timeout against us. Larger forces at work, someone made the snow gods angry, problem CTBlizz with his greed.

Nah people do not believe it but it is true, it snows where it wants to snow, over and over and over. I bet my house Eastern Romania does not see 15 feet of snow in one month next year. Some years it just wants to snow even in the worst shi t pattern possible , other years total blah. I am just glad this did not fizzle at hour 24, long lead OTS mucho better on the soul.

All things considered I only need 5-10" of snow here to make this a respectable winter by Cape standards. But that's seemingly as likely as ending up in a menage with Kate Upton and Kristen Bell at the next gtg.

honestly, no matter what happens the rest of the year, this winter sucked from a winter outdoor enthusiasts point of view. From a weather guys view a big storm would be cool but all in all it sucked.

We will always have Halloweenie

That storm caused me 3-4K in roof damage to my car (range because I have not repaired it) ... so it goes down as a pretty awful storm in my book.

When my mind thinks back to it, I don't think of snow as much as I do

1) Uberfreak Event,

2) Massive Power Outages,

3) Fight with GF for dragging her from NYC to Ridgefield for it,

4) having 15" reported in my hometown by a friend but never measuring more than 9.5 myself,

5) having to smack snow off the Japanese Maples every hour so they wouldn't croak, and

6) ... did I mention my poor Honda Accord???

I don't appreciate never measuring more than 4".

I'm still stuck on the fact that you have a house in Romaina.

Cool.

some thoughts:

(1) my own inexperience: I just can't believe with such potent southern stream energy emerging off NC/VA, a +NAO, a poorly positioned high pressure and weak-appearing confluence, and at least 3 pieces of energy to interact with in the northern stream, that this wouldn't track even further NW than the bomb GFS runs... I expected the Euro to flip further NW when it eventually would catch on to a phase, and I was wrong.

(2)That said, I'm still holding out hope. With so many northern stream pieces of energy, we still have a slight chance at a phase to bring home a bomb. Models can shift dramatically with 48hrs to go. And as always, give me futility, or give me blockbuster.

(3) the suckiness of this winter feels inescapabe: Astonishing to look back at the euphoria and confidence that most had here, including many Pros / Mets (no need to list names, but the posts are all there), Tues PM-Wed AM. This seemed to be the best signal we've had, if not one of the best synoptic setups, for a SNE snowstorm. The mood was this would be different from all the previous miraculous fails we've had, including Feb 11.

Yet another miraculous fail: northern stream energy was too fast to phase, slow enough to push away the southern stream energy.

(4) neweathereye = SnowNH (with an eye infection)

(5) big props to Messenger, WxWatcher91, ORH, CoastalWx, TT, Snowgoose69, Ginx, Dendrite, Earthlight, CapeCodWeather and others... totally awesome analyses throughout
