JamieOber
I'll be happy with the 1 to 3 this storm MAY bring. If you live north of and MDT to AOO line, you know these types of storms don't trend much better, so take what you can get. I didn't get less than 4 from any of the storms in 09-10. You keep including us in your screw zone and that's not always the case.
EasternUSWX
Huh? I've had plenty of times when the models showed a big hit a ways out and trended NW to screw me over. Granted this wasn't in cursed C PA, but some optimism never hurt. Just igonre him..
Santa Clause
Jamie, I'm referring to the model giving us identical amounts.
JamieOber
Have you seen some of the newer episodes? There was one called "Storm of the Century". A hurricane was going to directly hit Philly and the gang went to their usual debauchery trying to prepare for the storm (and get the hot news reporter to ride out the storm at the bar with them). Then at the end of the episode the forecast ended up being wrong and they were only supposed to get drizzle instead. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cZXx-CB9iR4 3D TV FTW

JamieOber
What? That isn't even close to Feb 2010. Yeah, we got 12-14" from that one.
Jmister
The difference between model runs that bring the storm up the close and the ones that skirt it off NC/VA is the alignment of the northern and southern streams. Here is the 18z vs 00z GFS. The 18z clearly has phased the northern and southern shortwaves resulting in a more powerful, westward storm. The UKMET has a look similar to the 00z GFS. If I were to extrapolate the 72 hour position, I would think it follows a similar path to 00z GFS.
Santa Clause
But you said these types of storms don't give us more than 1-3. Corrected version: These types of events don't give Wmsptwx or Pawatch more than 1 to 3 inches of snow. :weenie:
JamieOber
Corrected version: These types of events don't give Wmsptwx or Pawatch more than 1 to 3 inches of snow. :weenie: You swung 8 out of the second Feb 2010 storm. That was weird, UNV got like 4 and I got 9 in Port Matilda thanks to a def band.
Santa Clause
LOL...wow, I'd take that. I know we only got like 3" on the 5th event. And Dec. 19th, 2009 is a day I never want to talk about again...lol.

EasternUSWX
Not surprisingly the Euro has now made a major adjustment towards the GFS handling of the northern stream feature near Montana at 30 hr. It remains to be seen if the GFS was too aggressive and they'll meet somewhere in the middle. But this run is definitely more amplified with that feature when compared to the 12z run -- not even remotely similar.
EasternUSWX
Euro sig. north. Looks like a good hit in southern pa.
