michsnowfreak
Just over an inch of snow fell on Valentines Day, freshening up the what snowpack was left from Fridays snowstorm, and making for a wintry-looking day. Not much but snow on snow has been rare this winter. Though its not pictured, snowbanks lining street corners and parking lots are now the biggest theyve been all winter long, its finally looking like a Michigan winter outside! I took the above 4 pics, but I also wanted to share a few pics that hm8 took at U of M campus in Ann Arbor. I dont know what it is, but i LOVE pics of a college campus in Fall and Winter

michsnowfreak
Waiting for a 6"+ storm here, now that should be gorgeous. Is this your first winter at UM? If so what a shame...campus would have looked stunning last year with 1.5 foot depth and 3-6 foot snow piles lining the campus walkways!

I've heard rumors that last year after GHD a couple doors of the dorm I'm in right were completely blocked with massive drifts. Not totally unbelievable considering the 3" storm from the weekend caused a 14" drift right in front of the door I usually go out...winds must funnel the snow there perfectly. michsnowfreak
lol. It has been a bad winter almost everywhere this year. Im probably doing little if any better than you in Massachusetts. Though I have logged 22.4" of snow so far this winter, its staying power has been nonexistent. I have had just 19 days with 1"+ of snow on the ground at my 8am obs time. They were as follows: Nov 30- 1" Dec 06- 2" Dec 09- 1" Dec 10- 1" Jan 14- 2" Jan 15- 3" Jan 16- 2" Jan 20- 1" Jan 21- 3" Jan 22- 3" Jan 23- 1" Jan 27- 1" Jan 30- 1" Jan 31- 1" Feb 11- 5" Feb 12- 4" Feb 13- 4" Feb 14- 3" Feb 15- 3" There have actually been an additional 20 days with a snow depth of a T, but as you know living in the north, that doesnt cut it for us winter lovers. This is coming after logging 69.4" of snow and 81 days with 1"+ of snowcover last winter, most of those 81 days 6"+ cover no less....AND averaging 2 feet above normal the last 4 years. Really makes you learn to love every bit of snow you get this year.
