eurojosh
Yeah, it's interesting, a lot of downplaying of this storm all week, through this AM (I heard the same NPR forecast, calling for no more than 2". There is, to be fair,a big risk of bust, and I guess all the public forecasters would rather bust low than high...
nj2va
NBC 4 was calling for 1-4" for DC proper in their AM news broadcast.. The 4-6(?)" area started in western Fairfax county and extended west.
PhineasC
Ah, this is the time when weenies start becoming hysterical over their terrible local weather forecasts for the storm.
nj2va
Ah, this is the time when weenies start becoming hysterical over their terrible local weather forecasts for the storm. Just posting it for S&Gs. I don't put any stock in the local forecasts for the storm. Rely on reading the pros here and weater.gov.

North Balti Zen
I have no analysis, so I will banter it. The hour 60 NAM panel is pretty.
eurojosh
Yeah... NAM actually would be PDIII. But do we think the 12Z suite is going to be the one where the models finally come together? I think it may not be until the 00Z suite on Sat night...

Cold Miser
The whole area getting blasted at 60HR. This is back to being a big snow event like 00Z. I seriously hope this works out for you guys. I'm stating the obvious when I say the eastcoast has looked shameful this winter with regard to snow. If your region can pull through with some decent snow it will be a good thing.
RickinBaltimore
If the NAM is correct this will be a nice 2nd birthday gift for my son. Like I said before, I want to get out and have some fun with him in the snow. (And yes there would be pictures)
catoctin wx
I feel as if I should go out and mow the lawn (since it never stopped growing this winter ) so that there is a better chance that the snow will cover it.

CoastalWx
Very true, that happened right before 1/30/10 came north, this one will keep coming, by 0z nam will have 10" for dc You are kind of like the MA version of CTblizz a bit. Maybe toss in snowNH.
ChrisM
Good luck to you guys!! Well be watching a couple hundred miles too far north
WxUSAF
I'd like 6.8" of snow, since that would give me an even 10" for the winter. Double digits is at least respectable, especially with one warning criteria event.

Bari
We've become greedy, "...yes ...yes, a little more north." I'll take what we can get at this point, because it seem by any stretch of the imagination that we'll be seeing more snow from this storm an any storm this winter, even it's it goes further south. WxUSAF
Id like another slight shift north please Ditto. 50-100 miles or so would put central MD in the bullseye. 12z NAM is the coldest run I've yet seen and would give most of VA an all-snow event. Good for them, but I want to get in on that ~1" of QPF zone

It's gotta rank with the others to gain that kind of famous name protocol

I have a "really, really, low" setting on the mower. Between that and spreading shaving cream over the ground, it should be enough to get it done. yoda
Though we sometimes fight each other for snow, its really nice to see Coastal/Ginx and others from SNE popping in to our thread and dropping good info and the such.
