PhineasC
Even with the weenies occasionally roasting each other, this place is pretty cool. And crazy for free tutorials. It seems the 00Z NAM is a special kind of model porn for some of those guys. I don't understand all of the science but they are jazzed up over this and that. I keep seeing "heavy snow" surrounded by various scientific terms so I'm pleased.

nj2va
Total rookie but comparing Gfs to nam so far, Gfs doesn't look like it'll be as good here? Southern stream doesn't look as organized. What do the pros think since I took a practice swing there. On 3 glasses of wine.

nw baltimore wx
yes.. sometimes. Unfortunately, I've been burned too many times so although I'm clearly interested, I'm not getting on the train yet. We aren't even close to the point where this can still get yanked from us. And I also know you were lying when you made the statement.

PhineasC
It would appear on the GFS that our early WCB is affecting the ability the the EVC to phase with the frontogenesis in the northern stream causing a dissociative decoupling of the primary phase coils with the warp drive. Ian
the low's coming in so far west now on models it is increasingly difficult for the moisture to miss.. like 2 days ago we were looking at the western fl panhandle as sorta the yes/no zone. launches that frontrunning precip at us as well. There was some pesky energy around the GL that has dissipated the last couple of days (in the model runs) to be replaced by an area of high pressure. That must be helping? PhineasC
The GFS was way too deep and way too moist in the southern regions.

ravensrule
. timing and overall minimal landmass it's going to be "hot" in are probably limiting factors but some definite potential in the deep south. This is IAN's weenie wet dream, severe and big snows all in the same storm. He may not sleep until Monday night

Bob Chill
Clearly the smart play here is to go to sleep before the euro and sleep through all the 6z stuff. Back to back all snow solutions and we're inside of 72 hrs. FFW please.

nw baltimore wx
I hate not being home for snow, but this ain't a bad disco from PIT for Tucker and Garrett Co's. SATURDAY NIGHT INTO SUNDAY...A WEEKEND SNOW EVENT FOR THE SOUTHEAST RIDGES APPEARS TO BE COMING INTO BETTER FOCUS NOW. NORTHERN AND SOUTHERN STREAM TROUGHS WILL PHASE AS THEY MOVE ACROSS THE TENNESSEE VALLEY AND MOVE INTO THE CAROLINAS. 12Z NAM/GFS RUNS HAVE TRENDED FURTHER NORTH WITH THE SURFACE LOW AND THE NORTHERN EXTENT OF ITS PRECIPITATION SHIELD. FOR SNOW AMOUNTS, THIS EVENT MAY NEED FUTURE WINTER STORM WATCHES AND WARNINGS, AS DETERMINISTIC MODELS SHOW THE POTENTIAL FOR HEAVY AMOUNTS OF WET SNOW ACROSS TUCKER AND GARRETT COUNTIES WITH THE LOWER END OF THE ENVELOPE POSSIBLE FOR PRESTON COUNTY. WITH THIS IN MIND, HAVE ADDED MENTION OF THIS TO THE HWO.
gymengineer
Just saw the pic in the NE forum from a get-together-- honest question here, really nothing negative associated: Why are they all white males? I only ask because in this area and in my experience in Boston , it would pretty hard to find a group to go out drinking with that's that homogenous. I think most of the posters in that region are white males except for a few Hispanic guys. Down here it is totally different although the male population is probably 80% white even in our region.
