aldie 22
I've talked it over with the family, and we've decided on one of my hearty winter soup recipes for Sunday. Snow or no, its Pennsylvania Dutch chicken corn and dumpling soup with egg whites. But some snow would make it better. You read my post
PhineasC
The 0Z NAM verbatim is one of the most impressive displays of frontogenetic processes you will ever see in a non oceanic bomb complete with perfect horizontal deformation frontogenesis, likely some negative EPV/convective instability, and a nearly vertically co-located mid level front/upper level divergent jet streak. It would be the perfect setup, and a rare example of a non Noreaster event for the MA with heavy snow potential. Sounds sexy but I have no clue what he is talking about. usedtobe
Someone will call you at 1:15 am to let you know how it looks....Just post your number here lol, I'll catch it tomorrow, read all the AMwx comments on it and then start thinking about a quote for Jason though I suspect we're collectively going to have to do some real soul searching about what to do for accumulation probabilities uless of course the models back off instead of trend a little north. He is one smart dude, i used to interact with him alot a few years ago when we were the only 2 up at 3 in the morning and he was posting for our area. He taught me a ton. PhineasC
Did you see where he calmly told CoastalWX it was done for them and Coastal said, just as calmly, "Yep."? Red taggers are so civil. Had a weenie in a subforum said that to a weenie in another forum, there would have been a hair weave on the floor in here. It is always cute to see him get excited. What i love about Wes is he knows more than anyone but he talks in a language even a dummy weenie like me can understand.

WinterWxLuvr
Sounds sexy but I have no clue what he is talking about. This post is a perfect example of why we have the best subforum. There's a dynamic here that we need to preserve. If it clutters a thread here and there, so be it. I think we're all just a bit on edge because we want this one so badly. Face it. We're all freaks. I looked a minute ago, and there were about 180 users in the model thread. Throw in 300 more in the whole forum, and you talking about 5-6 hundred people on the AMERICAN weather forum. That means there are about 309,000,400 people in this country that don't give a sh*t about this storm. Happy weenieism.
PhineasC
Probably because they are so bored and we are the only major population center with a good chance at a storm. SNE has excellent mets. I am happy to have them. When CoastalWx and ORH start talking about instability you know we are headed in the right direction.

But Scott explained it great. When the Nam was coming in i saw every major met on the east coast plus Baroclinic there so i knew it would be great. PhineasC
Even with the weenies occasionally roasting each other, this place is pretty cool. And crazy for free tutorials. It seems the 00Z NAM is a special kind of model porn for some of those guys. I don't understand all of the science but they are jazzed up over this and that. I keep seeing "heavy snow" surrounded by various scientific terms so I'm pleased.

nj2va
Total rookie but comparing Gfs to nam so far, Gfs doesn't look like it'll be as good here? Southern stream doesn't look as organized. What do the pros think since I took a practice swing there. On 3 glasses of wine.

Unfortunately, I've been burned too many times so although I'm clearly interested, I'm not getting on the train yet. We aren't even close to the point where this can still get yanked from us. PhineasC
It would appear on the GFS that our early WCB is affecting the ability the the EVC to phase with the frontogenesis in the northern stream causing a dissociative decoupling of the primary phase coils with the warp drive.
