NorEastermass128
It is at least partially the sun though if not just because of today, the cumulative effect of the warmer days with the previous sun. A couple of shades spots have snow on the road. Chicken or egg who knows, the sun heats the road, the warm days heat the road, but the areas in total shade are covered in some snow even at this temp. is what it is, more than I expected based on the late night trends. It's a healthy snowfall right now, our Joe Bastardi (MRG) would even appreciate this. Well, good luck. You should get at least 5-6 more hours under those heavier echoes. Maybe you can pull off 4-5". I think that'll be tough during the day with the warm ground and June sun angle. But I think we can pull off 2-3" and again it all adds up. On one hand Boston is toying with a futility record and in reality I'm sure we're not terribly off from climo here if we get another couple of inches today and 4-5 the rest of the winter. Typhoon Tip
Sun's coming out up here along Rt 2 in Mass. And with lagged CAA, could actually turn out to be a balmy go of it for several hours this mid day. Nice! Time to embrace spring. It's clearly going to be early this year ... either that, or there WILL NOT be any winter storms. That is based purely on mind boggling persistence - don't blame me as being negative; I'm reflecting on what has happened. No one would argue - sanely - that this year has been exotically unusual in its ability to both set in the face of Global indicators (verification), but subsequently deconstruct event possibilities. What makes this latter characteristic peculiar is that has taken place for varying reasons. It's not like there are 1 or 2 opposing teleconnectors we can't shake here. It's been doing that regardless. In a funny sense, last night was just about the quintessentially worst thing that could have happened given the preceding 3 months of Autumn - ahahhaha. wow. It was like teasing the Elephant Man.

40/70 Benchmark
Just gassed up the vehicle for later. At the Bourne rotary it's not even really sticking on the lawns. Weird. Come east to about the traffic light 1-2 miles it's sticking. By the Sagamore it's accumulating. Over here it's light starting to border on moderate snow. Shockingly .7" on the railings here already. This is not a uniform snow though, it's having trouble accumulating on areas in the sun although everything is covered. .7" here, not bad. I'm honestly thrilled with the turn of events here. My friends down the cape and se quad of the state get a nice dose of winter, and I continue my run to history unabated. 33.1\30 Heil Futility. My friends down the cape and se quad of the state get a nice dose of winter, and I continue my run to history unabated. 33.1\30 Heil Futility. I'm cool with this too. Roads are wet, snow is falling. Kids can sled and build snowmen. Doesn't mess up any plans. It really is a futile winter though...comical actually. Talk about luck, this band of snow extends from Chatham to Wareham. There's nothing on either side of it for hundreds of miles of consequence. Not heavy snow here, but probably creeping towards about 1/3 a mile visibility. HIPPYVALLEY
33.5 here with sun in and out. Our trace is now just a distant memory Should be a good saturday with a little yard work and then ice skating. Glad our friends to the south are getting something. Enjoy! My folks house in Falmouth is now probably ahead of W. Ma in snowfall totals if you discount the October storm here.

ackwaves
Very wet flakes finally mixing in. You can only tell they're flakes by looking on your windshield. Prolly won't last long 'cuz the wind continues to veer(now NE) off the warm Atlantic. 37/36.
Logan11
There had been talk of some kind of modest snow event in the Tuesday time frame ...perhaps mainly by you know who ...JB. Looks like that stuff just shears out now..maybe some nuisance flakes. As each period approaches, each threat just disintegrates. I'm gonna bust in BOS and NYC I think. You were correct and he was wrong. Does it look like winter up there? I was skiing last night and while the conditions were decent, it looked like late March other than on the trails. Brown as far as the eye could see (until the Sun set, then it was pretty black, lol)

I would think they would wait until snow is actually on the ground unless it was a guarantee 6-12" or something My boss called me at 9 am yesterday and told me my gym for basketball was the only one on for now...he asked me what I thought about the snow and I said 2-3'' and if that...so hopefully my input saved me 9.5 hours of work here...so now I get 13 hours of work today

Logan11
Just checking the situation in Ulm (near Bavaria) Germany where my cousins live... They haven't been above 20F in the last 7 days. Days in the mid/upper teens and nights 0-5F. Normals there now are highs in the low 40s, but they do get a few Siberian outbreaks most winters interspersed with the Atlantic airmasses. So it's really just here in the CONUS that we are having this complete non-winter. Yes, and you were right about your feeling. Don't take Kev's derogatory comments to heart.
