dendrite
I'm still optimistic we see some accums up here since the low level cold often overperforms in overrunning situations. If the models start creeping the 2m temps up to 40F then it may be a different story. Hopefully the secondary gets cranking sooner.

HIPPYVALLEY
But, but Jerry the song states "a box of rain will ease the pain" however, in this case it only seems to make it worse? Someone google Box of Rain.

powderfreak
Really, link? Google Jay Peak and Mount Snow deaths... both over the weekend. Sugarbush had one less than 2 weeks ago. All are from hitting trees and suffering fatal trauma, I believe. While it has been an interesting spree of deaths, I'm not sure you can just write it off to icy conditions currently. It hasn't even been that icy. We've been right between packed powder and loose granular all week... tomorrow should be beautiful packed powder thanks to 3" of fluff. Plus, I think the Jay Peak snowboard was in the glades when he hit a tree, and the Sugarbush one from a little while ago was on a trail with islands of trees in it (a sparse glade). More often then not, its just from not skiing under control, verses just do to conditions.. but I guess you can't really tell one way or another. Its the same thing with driving and car accidents. Someone is going 75mph down a highway when it is snowing out, goes off the road and dies... do you blame excessive speed or the road conditions? If that driver was doing 45-50mph like those in the "slow lane" would he have had the same result? Anyway... off-topic for this thread.

You die from skiing trails over your ability level and/or skiing out of control or too fast for said conditions.

CoastalWx
Wow, much better, but still OTS. It tries to phase the two vortmaxes from the central ansd srn Plains, but there is still not quite enough mating with the shortwave in the Great Lakes. Decent step, however.
