I still have a dew point of 13 :) I hope there is enough rain to actually get some to the ground, lol. Got a couple of bands headed this way..it'll be interesting later on. I said late in Jan. I thought the first frozen event I'd get in Feb. would be sleet or zrain. It may not be this one, but I'll hold to that thought for now. T

Sleet reports coming in from areas well south of Birmingham, some of it heavy. So i dont see why you won't get sleet too. Some of the sleet has been accumulating briefly, even with temps in the 40s !

Tony! I have thought about you all day as the sleet reports have been rolling in. Maybe you will get some sleet out of this dang thing and the winter won't be a complete waste. It's not much but it beats the 90's we'll have in a few months.

Thanks, Greg! I think I'll get some good sleet for a bit anyway, but I haven't been down to my secret underground layer yet this year, lol, so the sled isn't out. I actually have some hope for around the 25th, as next weekends storm doesn't seem to be wanting to suppress enough to get us in Ga. Maybe if we can see some deeper cold...still a ways away.

I'll be out tonight waiting to hear the pellets in the leaves, and if it's rain, shoot I need some rain :)

You can never count us out as long as the td's are low. I'd sure love it if we had some decent cad building in, but winter has a long way to go, so there is always hope. I'm betting I get at least 300 sleets tonight :) With ground temps at 50 if would take a huge fall to get some to stay a while. T

Will make sure I get some good ones for ya Marietta~

My elevation is 1963 at my house to 2000 at the top of our hill...so hopefully we'll see something. Will be hoping you get some!

Justin, my friend, it looks like I might need to be sending it to you up there, as the line is headed toward me, at least initially, lol. Good luck to you guys up there. I will count this as an event if we get at least 15 minutes of something frozen...as bad as this winter has been, lol. T

The ruc brings some good lift into our area for a few hours. Hoping to pick up a couple inches.

ive been watching the ruc the last few hours and its looking promising but i am still a bit concerned about the temps and how quickly they can fall when the precip starts. this is one of those situations where i will feel better if we can knock a couple of degrees off the temp before the precip arrives

Generally a good sign when the euro picks up on it day 8-9 loses it and then it comes back day 5-6. Looking like this may be the one to watch. Am interested to watch tonight as this system comes in. Wouldn't be surprised at all to see a nice dusting-inch in a few places.

Just curious if you would be a little more specific concerning to which areas you are referring. I'm currently at 40 degrees over a dew point of 19. I'm just hoping to see a few flakes or sleet pellets falling in the morning.

Just got a text from my brother-in-law who is just south of Birmingham. He says it is sleeting lightly there right now.

Edit: New forecast from FFC for MBY...

Tonight: A chance of rain, snow, and sleet before 2am, then occasional rain and sleet between 2am and 4am, then occasional rain after 4am. Low around 34. South wind around 5 mph. Chance of precipitation is 90%. Little or no snow accumulation expected.

With a weak system like this pretty much anyone lucky. But the best areas would be southwest NC the WCU-AVL-southern foothills area.

47.8 47.6 and falling

Wow, I had a weenie moment a few minutes ago. I swept the back deck and cleaned my patio table. All set for some sleet catching!! :weenie:

LOL :weenie:

I'm sitting at 44.7/23 and falling as well. Just need to get the DP to start rising and just maybe we'll see something here IMBY. There is a slug of moisture just west of me, yet the shield is activated unfortunately atm. :fulltilt:

Probably less cloud cover,so its dropping faster in Gaffney, when thicker clouds roll in,it will steady the temp, and probably rise a few degrees even

Apparently that is the case. There seems to be a strip of 30s running from just NE of Shelby to here. Little pockets of 30s scattered around where the clouds are still broken.
