You're really acting like a weenie. If it snows hard enough and/or if it's cold enough, it's not that hard to overcome the higher sun angle. Unless you're in the coastal plain (which you clearly aren't), there's no need to punt late Feb or early March when it comes to winter weather. Your area can do great in marginal storms.

Listen, junior, your pants aren't big enough to be scolding people in these threads. Each is entitled to like what they want to like. If you like taking pictures of snow at 7 in the morning and then watching it disappear, then this is your time of year. I'm not acting like a weenie, I am one. So what? I like what I like. Now go get out your coloring book.

As for the weather, you guys in the cities might make out pretty good with this tonight. The radar definitely isn't doing it justice back this way. Weak echos, but snowing enough that its coated the bare spots and from the looks of it, is starting to dust the edges of I-81.

Hope so. And I know we are all frustrated. I'm not optimistic but hopefully we can get one decent qpf event into a serviceable air mass and enjoy. The next 20 days or so are some of the most productive days in our history. Maybe something will come together.

i disagree somewhat. there is a noticeable difference in the sun's impact by this time of year. you simply won't hold snow as long and depending on when/where it falls, you'll lose some on certain sides of buildings etc. major rates or stuff at night will often overcome for the most part. punt it.. no. but still.

It depends on where you live, but I think Winterwxluvr is in a good place to get decent March events. Yes, it is true that the snow melts quickly with the higher sun angle, and obviously a storm in March won't feel the same as one in January, but he's exaggerating a bit much.

Exactly. It's not just about watching snow fall. Well, maybe for some it is. And I never said that we couldn't have good events this time of year. We barely missed one last year, and we all know what we had two years ago. It's just that these 1-2 inch events in DEC and JAN can leave you with snow cover for several days. Snow on the ground helps bridge those periods between events.

Hope for that myself. I really hope you guys get in on one of those good bands. I know I'm too far west, but I'll watch with interest for y'all.
