im pretty much in a frame of mind where anything less than 2-4" is a total waste of time. kinda starting to root on futility so we can at least have a reason to hate this winter forever in dc.

DC is not a place and this is not a winter that holds up well against expectations...I can enjoy these little events because my expectations are so low...otherwise they blow...though the squall was cool...almost no other winter am I staying up til 5:30 watching rain change to non-accumulating -SN

it's a pretty solid air mass at least if you like that sort of thing. dews down to 9 at DCA/IAD now. wind chills low teens.

I'm sort of like you. I don't really dig the puny snow events. If it's a real 1-3 inch threat with a real chance of getting 3 inches, then i get marginally interested. Day's like today, not so much though knowing a few people had thunder with the line was pretty cool. I don't see tonight's activity as being very exciting. If it covers the ground enough to whiten it, great but I won't stay up past 11 to see it.

I think at this point the 2 healthiest attitudes are to

1) try to appreciate and enjoy the weather we get

2) Write off winter and spend your time doing something else

Waiting for or wishcasting a big storm or good period is a complete waste of time at this point...the die has been cast...this winter sucks....the idea that we are going to get saved by a late season KU or some fat block is ludcirous at this point....not that any met is suggesting that.....You can never say never, but the chances are slim...so I will just take things as they come and not worry about anything else at this point

I typically agree with you. Puny snow events aren't that much fun. I enjoy watching it fall, but I don't invest much energy into tracking, etc. However, that being said, the surprise events when you're not expecting anything are quite nice, too. The thunder snow and rates, even though they were for a short period, were quite fun today.

It won't do any good for snow to fall here overnight. It would never land. :P

Boy is it cold. Barely above 20 at 20.2 and the wind is ripping. Took the dog out for a whiz and thought I was going to die right there.

I know we aren't supposed to banter in here, but at this point, this thread is about done. So, this event really makes me realize that I'm ready for this to end. Had it not snowed another flake today, I would have been happy to have just kept what we had this morning. It was absolutely beautiful here. Dense fog, 1.5 inches of snow on literally everything, even some on the roads. This time of year stinks. It's still winter enough for snow, but the sun has just become too much of an enemy by now. It takes a really special event at this point to reap the full benefits of winter weather.

the last week has been at least marginally more interesting but at least right around here it's a reminder that this winter can't get it done. i do like weather enough where i'll follow it regardless but it's hard to stay that happy about it.

Obviously, I'm the same or I wouldn't post here but when winter winds down, my intrerest wains unless something big is going to happen...a hurricane, major flooding rainstorm or severe outbreak but mostly only in mby.

not sure I agree, especially where you live...2/10 - 3/5 is a pretty fertile period of climo for us...I dont remember ever punting this period

Back to non-weenie mode finally.

Very loud outside, like a sustained tropical system. Feels brutal in the yard with the dogs. A few flurries is all I ask for.

weenie mode again.

superflurryband inbound to dc.
