For anyone interested, a few shots taken with my P&S camera, from the snow squalls that came through Frederick County, MD with the arctic front this afternoon:

A few videos shot with my iPhone (view in 720p or 1080p HD for best quality, if you have the bandwidth)... the wind made it feel a lot colder than it actually was:

Heres a promising note, whiteouts reported in williamsport with that stuff and its still intensifying on radar, dear lord.

i think it's still getting enhanced by the 500 energy passing east along with the squall area.. you can see it on long loops. tho it does look pretty healthy overall.

Ian: It would be interesting to do a climate search to find out if this event is just about the latest calendar date for a given winter season to mark the occurance of a initial arctic front for the season.

In some seasons, we get an arctic blast between Thanksgiving and mid-December.

Also of interest, we may have an enhanced probability of getting lake effect streamers down to DC since none of the Great Lakes are frozen and closed for business.

Using that Dacula radar, which is composite I believe, you can see the start of a few strings of snow making it through the gauntlet. I wonder does the stuff up in central PA that has everyone buzzing help nudge some of that le over the mtns.

It doesn't happen very often here. It did happen in early Jan.
